Primary Purpose

The Instructional Designer creates and delivers an employee-based training curriculum focused on various topics, including but not limited to onboarding, professional skills, leadership skills, functional/technical skills, systems training, process training, and safety/compliance training. Occasionally, one may be asked to support our Business Groups with product or skills training for their distribution partners. Candidate must demonstrate experience preparing content for various delivery options, including in-person, virtual, and self-directed. Candidates must also possess proficient design tools and computer skills, including Articulate Storyline, Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, and Microsoft 365.

Major Responsibilities

  • Attend meetings, gather specifications, and ask questions to understand and apply all requirements for deliverables.
  • Work with subject matter experts at various levels of the organization to obtain objectives, content, and agreement with maximum efficiency and professionalism.
  • Design and develop training materials using blended, adult learning principles/ methodologies and established team standards and best practices.
  • Design classroom (VILT) curriculum consisting of fully illustrated visual presentations, learner's guides, job aids, role-play exercises, and handouts.
  • Develop engaging online curriculum including audio, video and interactive elements with authoring software such as Articulate 360, Adobe and other approved technology.
  • Manage and maintain curriculum, materials, and process documentation as needed or requested.
  • Monitor trends and responsibly use AI tools and new technology to enhance and expediate the design process.
  • Other responsibilities may include presenting curriculum to employees in a classroom or virtual setting.

Minimum Job Requirements

Education

Bachelor’s degree

Work Experience

5 years of instructional design/development/delivery experience

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Experience with Articulate 360 Suite and Adobe or other industry audio, video editing tools
  • Design learning based on adult learning principles and industry best practices.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft 365 software suite.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present as required.
  • Effective facilitation skills required.
  • Ability to manage timelines and deadlines with a strong focus on project management.

Office Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. Occasionally, the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
