Housed within the Steinberg Centre for Simulation and Interactive Learning, SCSIL, the Office of Ed-TECH serves as a Faculty-wide hub for educational technology, e-learning, multimedia development, extended reality (XR), including virtual and augmented reality, and emerging technology initiatives within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, FMHS. The Office supports the design and development of high-quality online, blended, and technology-enhanced learning experiences for McGill students, faculty, health professionals, and external learners.

The Office of Ed-TECH works closely with subject matter experts, instructors, programs, and clinical partners to translate complex health sciences content into engaging, accessible, and pedagogically sound learning experiences. This includes the use of learning design, multimedia, artificial intelligence, extended reality (XR), simulation-based tools, and other emerging technologies to support teaching, learning, assessment, and innovation across the Faculty.

Under the direct supervision of the Director of the Office of Ed-TECH, Education Technology and E-Learning Collaboration for Health, for the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, the incumbent plays a key role in the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of educational technology initiatives and activities.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Provide professional expertise and advice with respect to online, blended, and technology-enhanced teaching and learning.

· Participate in needs assessment and contribute to the planning of e-learning and educational technology projects, including the estimation of scope, timelines, and required resources.

· Design and develop content for online and blended courses using authoring software such as Articulate Storyline, Rise, Camtasia, and other relevant tools.

· Support the design and implementation of learning experiences that may include extended reality (XR), AI-enabled tools, simulation-based platforms, and other emerging educational technologies.

· Collaborate with subject matter experts, instructors, and health professionals to translate complex clinical, biomedical, or health sciences content into clear and effective learning experiences.

· Advise subject matter experts and instructors on relevant instructional, assessment, and learner engagement strategies.

· Advise subject matter experts and instructors on available technologies and their appropriate integration within the instructional strategy and learning context.

· Structure, review, and edit educational material and propose revisions for improvement.

· Write, create, and adapt reference materials such as flowcharts, scripts, storyboards, templates, design documents, and production plans for the development of educational content.

· Assist in writing and preparing documentation, guide sheets, videos, training materials, and orientation modules for use by subject matter experts, instructors, learners, and project partners.

· Contribute to the development of successful online instructional strategies, models, and reusable design approaches.

· Research and recommend instructional delivery tools, educational technologies, and resources that align with project goals and Faculty priorities.

· Contribute to the development, implementation, and improvement of standard operating procedures, templates, workflows, and quality assurance processes.

· Work collaboratively with multimedia specialists, graphic designers, videographers, instructional designers, project teams, and external partners.

· Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifying Skills and Abilities:

· Demonstrated knowledge of instructional design, adult learning principles, online and blended learning, and educational technology.

· Experience developing online or blended learning materials using tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise, Camtasia, Captivate, learning management systems, or similar platforms.

· Comfort working with emerging educational technologies, including artificial intelligence, extended reality (XR), simulation-based tools, and immersive or interactive platforms.

· Ability to work collaboratively with subject matter experts, instructors, clinicians, faculty members, and health professionals with competing priorities.

· Ability to translate complex health sciences, clinical, or technical content into clear, engaging, learner-centred educational materials.

· Strong writing, editing, storyboarding, communication, organizational, and project coordination skills.

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage multiple projects and timelines, and contribute to team-based workflows and quality improvement processes.

· Experience in health professions education, simulation-based education, medical education, AI-enabled learning tools, XR platforms, or immersive simulation technologies is considered an asset.
