Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Instructional Designer with a strong background in curriculum development, eLearning design, and adult learning principles to support the design, development, and implementation of global learning programs. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional partners — including subject matter experts, technology teams, and business stakeholders — to assess learning needs, develop engaging courseware, and ensure that solutions drive measurable learner impact.

Location: Heredia, CR
Contract Length: 12 Months
Hours: 40 hours/week, 8 hours/day

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and develop global curriculum programs that support the adoption of new technologies, including AI-powered tools and platforms.
  • Create engaging and interactive online content using technical design, creative storytelling, and instructional strategy.
  • Lead the end-to-end design and development of learning programs from concept through implementation and quality assurance, maintaining a focus on scalability and learner impact.
  • Conduct needs assessments to identify strategically aligned learning and development initiatives.
  • Design training courseware across multiple delivery modes including instructor-led, virtual, self-paced eLearning, microlearning, videos, infographics, guides, and simulations.
  • Collaborate across departments to develop impactful learning content that supports organizational transformation and innovation.
  • Integrate and experiment with AI technologies to streamline design workflows, automate content generation, and deliver personalized, data-informed learning journeys.
  • Develop and deploy AI-driven simulations that enable learners to safely practice real-world decision-making and scenario-based problem solving.
  • Partner with stakeholders to assess skills and enablement needs, define options, and translate them into actionable and measurable learning objectives.
  • Address course feedback and updates in a timely manner to ensure content remains current and relevant.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years of experience in instructional design and curriculum development.
  • Demonstrated experience interfacing with subject matter experts, stakeholders, and peers across cross-functional teams.
  • Training and experience applying instructional design practices and methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, course development methodologies, Bloom's Taxonomy, and Kirkpatrick's training evaluation levels.
  • Strong skills with eLearning authoring software (Articulate 360 — Storyline and Rise) and audio/video editing tools (Camtasia, AfterEffects, Premiere, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience using AI-enabled design platforms (e.g., Synthesia, WellSaid Labs, ChatGPT, Copilot) to create scalable, adaptive, and simulation-based learning content.
  • Solid foundation in graphic design and typography with working knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Growth mindset and enthusiasm for experimenting with new AI tools and technologies to enhance creativity, efficiency, and learner engagement.
  • High degree of initiative, strong collaboration skills, and the ability to communicate ideas and incorporate feedback effectively.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with leveraging machine learning insights to improve learner outcomes and personalize training experiences.
  • Awareness of ethical standards and responsible use of generative AI in instructional design.
  • Familiarity with AI concepts and their application in workplace learning.
  • Participation in recognized training industry organizations (e.g., Association for Talent Development) strongly preferred.

Education

  • BS/BA or equivalent experience required.
  • Instructional Design degree or Training Development certificate is a plus.
