Hours Per Day: 6.0 total. 5.0 of Instructional Assistant hours and 1.0 of Preschool Secretary

Shift: TBD - Flexible

Location: Bell Elementary (located within the Juanita Learning Community)

Hourly Rate: $27.71/an hour for 5.0 hours (SC11SEIU26-27.pdf) Position is eligible for membership in the Service International Employees Union No. 925

$32.73/an hour for 1.0 hours (SC8LWESP26-27.pdf) Position is eligible for membership in the Lake Washington Education Support Professionals.

This position is posted in accordance with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Collective Bargaining Agreement transfer process outlined in Section 15.9 The position will be posted internally and externally for five (5) workdays. The internal posting will close on Friday, October 2nd, 2026. Interested employees must submit an Internal Application. To be eligible for transfer, employees must meet the posted qualifications and have been in their current position for at least six (6) months. Qualified applicants will be contacted directly. If no internal candidates are selected for transfer, the position will be posted for one (1) week to consider both internal and external applicants

Job Summary:

The Instructional Assistant supports teaching staff in providing a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment for all students. Working collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and other school staff, the Instructional Assistant provides academic support through small-group instruction and individual student assistance, while also supporting students' social-emotional growth, safety, and well-being throughout the school day. Responsibilities may include assisting with classroom instruction and preparation, supervising students in the lunchroom and on the playground, providing library support, and serving as a crossing guard during arrival and dismissal. The Instructional Assistant helps maintain a positive and orderly school environment, encourages student independence and positive behavior, and contributes to the overall success of the school community.

Pres School Secretary: All general administrative support positions are expected to perform common office procedures such as answering phones; providing information and customer service to students, employees and/or the community; word processing or data entry; and maintaining records while maintaining confidentiality. Although certain recurring tasks or responsibilities may be assigned to certain individuals within an office with multiple support positions, all employees in these positions are expected to contribute to keeping the office functioning effectively and efficiently. For example, an Office Manager II may be expected to perform the duties and responsibilities of a School Secretary as those duties are considered inherent in the duties of the position.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent. Must hold an associate degree (AA) or higher OR have completed two years of study equivalent to 72 college quarter credit hours OR have passed an Educational Testing Service ParaPro Assessment documenting a score of 455 or higher OR have passed the Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment with a score of 220 or higher. Official documentation will be required upon hire.
  • Must pass criminal background check
