The Installation Supervisor oversees all aspects of commercial fire protection and life safety system installation projects from contract award through project completion. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and supporting installation activities while ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements.
The Installation Supervisor serves as a key leader between field personnel, project stakeholders, customers, and internal departments to ensure successful project execution and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Coordination
Review project scope, drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
Determine labor, material, equipment, and scheduling requirements for assigned projects.
Develop project schedules, manpower plans, and installation strategies.
Coordinate with engineering, purchasing, fabrication, and field teams to ensure efficient project execution.
Assist with securing required permits, inspections, and approvals.
Project Execution & Field Oversight
Team Leadership
Lead and coordinate field technicians, installers, foremen, and subcontractors.
Provide training, coaching, and technical guidance to installation personnel.
Foster a positive, productive, and accountable work environment.
Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
Assist with workforce planning and labor allocation across projects.
Budget & Resource Management
Monitor labor utilization, material consumption, and project costs.
Assist in maintaining project budgets and forecasting labor requirements.
Review and approve material requests and equipment needs.
Support efforts to maximize project profitability while maintaining quality standards.
Customer & Stakeholder Communication
Serve as a primary point of contact for customers, contractors, and project stakeholders during installation activities.
Participate in project meetings and provide regular status updates.
Address customer concerns professionally and promptly.
Maintain positive working relationships with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and other trades.
Documentation & Project Closeout
Maintain accurate project records, including daily reports, change orders, RFIs, and installation documentation.
Ensure completion and submission of required testing documentation, as-built drawings, and closeout packages.
Participate in final inspections, system acceptance testing, and turnover activities.
Support warranty and post-installation follow-up efforts as needed.
Qualifications
Experience supervising commercial fire alarm, fire protection, security, or low-voltage installation projects.
Strong knowledge of NFPA standards, applicable codes, and installation best practices.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings.
Demonstrated leadership and team management experience.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with project documentation, scheduling, and reporting.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Work Environment
This position is primarily based from the office with regular travel to customer and project sites. Regional travel may be required based on project needs.
The role requires the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and respond effectively to changing project conditions. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support customer requirements, project schedules, or emergency situations.
Authority
The Installation Supervisor has the authority to:
Direct installation activities on assigned projects.
Coordinate labor, materials, and resources necessary for successful project completion.
Recommend installation methods and field solutions that support project objectives.
Stop work immediately when unsafe conditions or practices are identified.
Escalate project concerns that impact safety, quality, schedule, or customer satisfaction.
