The Field Foreman is responsible for leading the project-specific installation of aluminum storefronts, curtain walls, entrances, and associated glazing, hardware, and caulking systems. This position performs all duties of an Install Glazier while providing jobsite leadership, crew direction, material coordination, safety oversight, and communication with Project Management to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to company quality standards.

Essential Functions

  • Leads the installation of aluminum storefronts, doors, curtain walls, entrances, and associated glass and hardware systems.
  • Follows project plans, specifications, manufacturer requirements, and company installation standards.
  • Works independently and alongside installation crews to install Division 8 products as assigned.
  • Responsible for installation of technically advanced and architecturally demanding products and systems.
  • Ensures all products are installed according to manufacturer directions and warranty requirements.
  • Organizes and maintains company vans, tools, equipment, and stock materials required for daily operations.
  • Maintains inventory of commonly used field materials including shims, fasteners, caulk, tape, anchors, and other installation supplies.
  • Coordinates material deliveries to the jobsite based on expected workflow, project schedules, and installation sequencing.
  • Directs, supervises, and teaches installers on assigned jobsites.
  • Trains entry-level and developing installers on proper installation techniques, safety requirements, and workmanship standards.
  • Assigns daily work activities and monitors crew productivity.
  • Tracks labor hours, material usage, and project progress as required for each installation project.
  • Handles daily safety paperwork, toolbox talks, job hazard analyses, and required on-site safety meetings.
  • Ensures compliance with company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and customer-specific jobsite regulations.
  • Maintains all equipment in good working order and reports malfunctions or repair needs.
  • Works directly with the Project Manager regarding scheduling, manpower requirements, material needs, jobsite challenges, and overall project execution.
  • Provides quality customer service and including professional interaction with customers, contractors, and other trades.
  • Attends all required training programs to stay current on new building materials, installation methods, and technologies.
  • Travels as required to perform essential job functions (approximately 25%).
  • Follows all company policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of installation experience with doors, frames, hardware products, glazing systems, or other Division 8 products.
  • Previous experience leading or directing installation crews preferred.
  • Clean driving record and at least 21 years of age.
  • Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screening.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of commercial glazing, storefront, curtain wall, and entrance systems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, specifications, and installation instructions.
  • Ability to read and use a measuring tape, level, and other required installation tools.
  • Strong understanding of Division 8 products and installation requirements.
  • Ability to organize jobsite workflow and coordinate field operations effectively.
  • Strong leadership and team development skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate and understand detailed instructions.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to train and mentor installers while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver construction materials and tools.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work from ladders and lifts for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments under varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely handle glass, aluminum framing systems, and related construction materials.
