Inspector of Works (IOW) – Architecture


Job Summary


We are seeking an experienced
Inspector of Works (IOW)

to be based on-site, acting as the Architect’s representative to ensure that all construction works are carried out in full compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and relevant Malaysian regulations.


This role plays a critical part in maintaining quality standards, ensuring regulatory compliance, and facilitating smooth coordination across all project stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and inspect all site works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and Malaysian Standards

  • Verify setting-out works, materials selection, and on-site execution meet regulatory and project requirements

  • Witness and document all inspections and testing in accordance with the approved QA/QC plan

  • Supervise daily site activities to ensure alignment with architectural design intent and specifications

  • Conduct regular site inspections, track progress, and proactively identify and resolve non-conformance issues

  • Ensure materials and construction methods comply with contract requirements and approved Method Statements (MOS)

  • Coordinate closely with consultants, contractors, and other disciplines to ensure smooth interfacing of works

  • Prepare and submit daily site reports, inspection records, and relevant documentation

  • Identify potential risks, delays, and variations, and escalate issues promptly

Requirements


  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or a related field

  • Minimum
    5 years of experience

    in building/construction projects

  • Registered with
    Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia

    (LAM)

    as an Inspector of Works (IOW)

  • Strong knowledge of architectural detailing, materials, and construction methodologies

  • Familiar with Malaysian regulations and standards such as UBBL, CIDB Act 520, OSHA, GBI, and QLASSIC

  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams

  • Able to work in a fast-paced site environment and manage pressure effectively
