Job Description

Delva Tool & Machine is seeking an Inspection Managerfor our Cinnaminson, NJ location. We’re looking for a hands-on Inspection Manager who can own the entire quality function—from shop floor execution to system-level compliance. This role isn’t about maintaining the status quo; it’s about driving accountability, tightening processes, and ensuring we consistently meet demanding aerospace and defense standards.

What You’ll Own

  • Supervise and direct Inspector across incoming, in-process, and final inspection functions; assign work and manage daily priorities.
  • Review inspection plans, control plans, and traveler requirements before jobs are released to the inspection floor.
  • Monitor inspection throughput and queue; identify and resolve bottlenecks to protect production schedule commitments.
  • Ensure all inspection activity is documented accurately including dimensional data, non-conformance reports, and disposition records.
  • Oversee first-article inspection (FAI) activities; review AS9102 packages for completeness before submission.
  • Coordinate with Production and Quality Engineering on non-conforming material disposition, MRB activity, and corrective actions.
  • Enforce gage calibration schedules; ensure inspection equipment is within calibration and properly maintained.
  • Train and onboard Inspectors; assess skills and coordinate development opportunities.
  • Conduct daily team meetings to communicate priorities, quality alerts, and customer requirements.
  • Ensure all inspection activities comply with ITAR technical data handling requirements.
  • Own the inspection department's performance KPIs: first-pass yield, inspection cycle time, on-time completion, and non-conformance rates.
  • Develop and maintain the inspection process including control plans, inspection flow, workstation layouts, and documentation standards.
  • Lead the gage and measurement equipment program: calibration system, MSA/gage R&R studies, and equipment investment planning.
  • Partner with Quality Engineering on PPAP, FAI, customer-specific requirements, and supplier quality inspection activities.
  • Manage the inspection department budget including labor, equipment, and calibration service costs.
  • Lead inspection team hiring, performance reviews, development plans, and disciplinary actions with HR support.
  • Drive continuous improvement in inspection processes to reduce cycle time, improve throughput, and increase data quality.
  • Serve as the inspection department representative in AS9100 audits, customer source inspections, and regulatory reviews.
  • Develop and enforce inspection procedures, work instructions, and quality recordkeeping standards.
  • Lead root cause analysis on systemic inspection escapes or recurring non-conformances.

What You Bring

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field required; CQE or CQT certification preferred.
