We are looking for a responsible and highly motivated Insect Production Research Assistant to aid in the production of insects and maintenance of insect colonies for research purposes. This role will follow established methods for the production of multiple insect species, maintenance of insect colonies, supplies, equipment, and work areas. May also be involved in assisting with experiments and research.

What You’ll Do:

  • Ensure that all material necessary for rearing insect colonies is prepared properly and on time.
  • Responsible for all aspects of insect colony tasks, such as daily maintenance, diet preparation, egg collection, weekly production setup, insect staging, sanitation, etc.
  • Assist with miscellaneous tasks such as cleaning, handling, packaging and storing facility supplies/materials/equipment.
  • Operate and maintains complex equipment in support of experiments conducted within a research project.
  • May have limited accountability for overseeing and/or directing the work of others.
  • Compile and records information, sometimes using computer.
  • May write experimental reports, summaries and protocols.

What Skills You Need:

  • H.S. diploma and up to 4 years’ experience or equivalent education and amounts of relevant experience.
  • Experience in Entomology or Insect Rearing preferred.
  • Ability to perform physical labor.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow protocols.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work within a team.
