As an Innovation Design Engineer in P&G Fabric Care, you will help shape the future of product innovation by transforming consumer needs and business opportunities into tangible product solutions. This hands-on mechanical/mechatronics engineering role focuses on concept creation, rapid prototyping, and design for manufacturing across Laundry and Fabric Enhancers. You will collaborate with design, engineering, product development, and external partners to bring both traditional delivery systems and complex electromechanical device concepts to life.

You will translate consumer requirements and product interactions into technical specifications for looks-like and works-like prototypes, using advanced prototyping and fabrication capabilities to accelerate learning. In partnership with cross-functional teams and external suppliers, you will develop consumer and technical learning plans, build and test safe and reliable prototypes, and help de-risk ideas for scale-up. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives on solving complex, multi-faceted challenges and is passionate about bringing meaningful innovation to consumers’ homes.

The Ideal Candidate Is:

  • A Hands-On Builder & Technical Expert: Brings strong engineering fundamentals and hands-on prototyping capability to turn complex ideas into tangible solutions that drive learning and reduce development risk.
  • Curious & an Adaptive Learner: Uses prototyping to learn quickly, extract critical insights, and translate them into scalable engineering requirements and design solutions.
  • A Risk Management & Reliability Leader: Demonstrates strong judgment regarding consumer-use safety, compatibility risks, and reliability engineering.
  • A Collaborator & Influencer: Works effectively across functions and with external partners to align technical direction and deliver strong project outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Hands-On Innovation & Technical Mastery:
    • Lead the design, hands-on prototyping, and iterative refinement of delivery systems, electromechanical prototypes, and integrated packaging solutions.
    • Conduct rapid looks-like and works-like prototyping and experimentation to: Validate product/concept fit in iterative consumer/team testing and support in-lab and small-scale consumer learning
  • Consumer-Centric Prototyping & In-Home Validation:
    • Translate prototyping learnings and engineering expertise into clear technical requirements for functional, safe, reliable, and scalable devices.
    • Collaborate with internal and external partners to engineer, build, and test safe, functional, and reliable devices for extended-use consumer studies and concept validation.
  • Design for Manufacture (DFM) & Scale-Up:
    • Partner with Design, Engineering, and product development teams to support smooth transition from early concept through design approval and scale-up.
    • Support design freeze and scale-up activities while ensuring design intent is maintained throughout development.
