Under limited supervision from the Warden, Chief of Inmate Grievance Branch, and Central Office Inmate Grievance Administrators,
  • Performs a wide variety of administrative duties for the Inmate Grievance Branch.
  • Investigates grievances by conducting thorough and impartial inquiries of circumstances pertaining to grievances through interviews with inmates and staff.
  • Analyzes specific information obtained and prepares recommendations designed to resolve problems at the lowest possible level.
  • Reviews and researches SCDC policies, relevant/mandated statues, disciplinary tapes, and any documentation related to grievances.
  • Interprets rules, regulations, policies, and procedures as they apply to day-to-day operations and to the grievance procedures, accepts and forwards appeals to the central office, serves inmates with step 1 and step 2 grievance decisions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and relevant program experience.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:

  • A high school diploma and four (4) years of responsible clerical, secretarial or administrative experience preferably in a correctional or law enforcement setting.

  • A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the related work experience.

  • Required to have experience in personal computer, leadership, law enforcement/paralegal/research or investigations.
