Your Role
As an Advanced Control & Simulation Engineer, you will be part of the Advanced Control & Simulation team within the DU Residential and System. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining system models, exploiting field data from connected products, and supporting the development and evaluation of new control algorithms for residential heating systems.
You will contribute to ensuring consistency between simulation models and real‑world system behavior, including through validation activities on real products and in SIL and HIL environments.
The role requires a solid understanding of our products/systems and their operating context, ensuring that simulation and data analysis activities are aligned with development needs and effectively support product design and optimization.
What You’ll Do
Modeling & Simulation
Contribute to the development, maintenance, and improvement of system‑level models of products, systems, and their operating environments
Participate in full‑system simulation studies to analyze system behavior across different operating conditions
Data Analysis & Model Validation
Analyze simulation results, experimental data, and field data from connected products to assess system performance and behavior
Take part in model validation and calibration activities, ensuring consistency between models and real‑world behavior through testing on real products and validation in SIL and HIL environments
Help identify trends, anomalies, and usage patterns to support product and system development teams
Algorithm Support & Communication
Contribute to the evaluation of new algorithms and product concepts using model‑based and data‑driven approaches
Support development and innovation projects through simulation and data analysis activities
Document modeling work and results, and communicate technical conclusions clearly to non‑specialist stakeholders
Your Impact
Improve the understanding of residential heating systems through simulation and data analysis
Support design decisions by providing quantitative insights on system behavior and algorithm performance
Contribute to more robust and efficient products by delivering reliable simulation results to development teams
What We’re Looking For
Technical Knowledge and Experience
Strong knowledge of numerical simulation and system modeling
Knowledge of thermodynamics applied to energy systems
Technical knowledge of energy systems (e.g. heat pumps, boilers, residential heating systems)
Skills in data analysis applied to simulation and product data
Proficiency in Python programming for analysis and modeling tasks
Experience with one or more simulation tools (e.g. Dymola or equivalent system‑level simulation tools)
Basic knowledge of control systems and automation principles
Basic understanding of systems engineering concepts
Awareness of regulations and industry standards related to energy system
Soft Skills
Strong analytical and synthesis skills, with the ability to understand and reason about complex systems
Ability to communicate clearly on technical topics in English, including with non‑specialists, in an international environment
Proactive, collaborative, and quality‑focused mindset
Well organized, with a keen eye for detail
Strong interest in technical innovation, with the ability to contribute creatively to engineering solutions
Curiosity about industry trends and technological developments
