Organization:

HVI-Comprehensive Cancer CenterResponsible for supervision of the daily workflow of infusion pharmacy operations and activities to ensure efficient, effective, and accurate levels of operation and assuring compliance to established policies and procedures, laws, and regulations including the safe compounding and storage of sterile hazardous and non-hazardous materials, and narcotics. Responsibilities also include training, regulatory compliance, input for personnel performance assessment, and staff development while managing medication safety initiatives and adverse drug reaction monitoring. May staff core shifts as needed to support the operation. Role will serve as a pharmacist in charge (PIC) of the infusion pharmacy.

EDUCATION:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited Pharmacy school or Postgraduate training/education OR
  • Bachelor’s degree with advanced clinical training experience or equivalent education/experience OR
  • Master's degree with advanced clinical training experience or equivalent education/experience

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:

  • PharmD - Pharmacist OR
  • RPH-Registered Pharmacist

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years recent relevant experience

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, generic and trade pharmaceutical names, pharmaceutical calculations and laws and regulations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current pharmacological/biopharmaceutical principles, pharmacotherapy, medical terminology, pathologies, disease states, and related information for a medical management plan.
  • Knowledge of acute and chronic disease and its effects on patients and caregivers.
  • Able to use professional judgment and clinical expertise in the daily solving of complex problems and in the provision of clinical information within the scope of practice.
  • Knowledge and understanding of different Pharmacy practice settings, including controlled substance delivery and procedures. Knowledge and understanding of different Pharmacy practice settings, including controlled substance delivery and procedures.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current pharmacological/biopharmaceutical principles, pharmacotherapy, medical terminology, pathologies, disease states, and related information for a medical management plan.
  • Carry out calculations and execute basic math skills needed for common dosage determination.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment or work processes in a timely, positive and effective manner.
  • General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook), related pharmaceutical technology, EHR, and EPIC.
  • Ability to perform basic inventory management duties
  • Demonstrated commitment to teamwork by willingly accepting responsibilities and performing assignments that support the team.

  • Build collaborative relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.
  • Requires a basic working knowledge of legal requirements and accreditation standards including National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), The Joint Commission (TJC), Title XXII, United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and United States Pharmacopeia (USP).

Pay Range is $103.90 to $124.68 / hour

The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs. Base pay is only one component of Sutter Health’s comprehensive total rewards program. Eligible positions also include a comprehensive benefits package.
