We are a high-growth, AI-native fintech and insurance technology company building infrastructure that connects the insurance industry with businesses across financial services, automotive, mortgage, and other sectors.

The platform provides universal API infrastructure for insurance data, enabling companies to verify coverage, monitor policies, and automate complex insurance workflows in seconds rather than hours.

The company has built a lean, high-output engineering organization of approximately 25 employees and has experienced significant revenue growth while serving major enterprise customers. The platform supports RESTful APIs and agentic AI workflows across high-volume insurance use cases.

The company is backed by leading technology and venture investors and recently raised a $17.5M Series A. The team operates with a strong ownership mentality, moves quickly, and gives early employees significant responsibility for building foundational systems and processes from the ground up.

This is an opportunity to become the first dedicated Infrastructure & Security Engineer, working directly with the CTO to define infrastructure, DevOps, cloud, security, and developer tooling strategy as the engineering organization scales.

What You Will Do

• Own Infrastructure & Security: Become the first dedicated hire responsible for DevOps, infrastructure, platform engineering, and security.
• Establish infrastructure procedures, security policies, engineering standards, and operational toolsets from the ground up.
• Modernize Cloud Infrastructure: Migrate legacy infrastructure to modern AWS-based systems and strengthen cloud architecture.
• Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable cloud infrastructure.
• Build Security Programs: Automate and maintain the company's security program, including ongoing SOC 2 compliance and security controls.
• Develop and maintain AI-specific security policies and governance processes.
• Build incident response workflows and improve organizational readiness for security and infrastructure incidents.
• Improve Developer Velocity: Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows, and developer tooling.
• Automate repetitive infrastructure and operational processes to improve engineering productivity.
• Work closely with engineering teams to improve development, testing, deployment, and production workflows.
• Advise Leadership: Partner directly with the CTO and engineering leadership on infrastructure architecture, security strategy, risk, and technical priorities.
• Embed a security-first mindset across the engineering organization.
• Establish monitoring, observability, reliability, and operational best practices.
• Evaluate infrastructure and security tooling and make pragmatic technology decisions.
• Help define the long-term platform strategy as the engineering organization grows.
• Take broad ownership across infrastructure, security, DevOps, and platform engineering in a highly ambiguous environment.
• Grow into a technical/team leadership role as the company and engineering organization scale.

Ideal Candidate Background

Experience Requirements

• 6+ years of infrastructure, DevOps, platform, cloud, or security engineering experience.
• Strong experience building and operating production infrastructure.
• Experience owning infrastructure and security initiatives end-to-end.
• Experience working in startups, high-growth companies, or lean engineering organizations.
• Strong track record of operating independently with significant technical ownership.
• Experience working in regulated B2B SaaS, fintech, insurance, cybersecurity, or similarly high-trust environments is highly preferred.
• Experience establishing infrastructure or security practices from the ground up.
• Comfortable working directly with senior engineering and company leadership.

Technical Requirements

• Strong AWS experience.
• Strong infrastructure and cloud architecture fundamentals.
• Experience with Terraform or infrastructure-as-code.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong CI/CD experience.
• Strong understanding of deployment and release workflows.
• Experience with Python and/or Node.js.
• Strong understanding of production systems, networking, security, and cloud reliability.
• Experience automating infrastructure and operational processes.
• Strong scripting and debugging skills.

Infrastructure, DevOps & Platform Requirements

• Experience designing and managing AWS infrastructure.
• Strong infrastructure-as-code experience, particularly Terraform.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience migrating or modernizing legacy infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of deployment automation and developer tooling.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, observability, and production operations.
• Ability to identify infrastructure bottlenecks and improve reliability and scalability.
• Experience establishing infrastructure standards and operational procedures.

Security & Compliance Requirements

• Strong security-first mindset.
• Experience building or maintaining security programs.
• Experience with SOC 2 compliance and security controls.

• Understanding of cloud security and infrastructure security.
