Job Description

Who We Are:

United States Cold Storage owns and operates one of the most complex temperature-controlled logistics networks in North America. Every day, our systems coordinate the storage and movement of food on a national scale across a network of state-of-the-art distribution centers, including multiple highly automated warehouse facilities.

We continue to advance our core warehouse and logistics platforms. Our current focus is on modular, event-driven, API-first and cloud architecture. We continue to enhance reliability and accelerate engineering productivity by strengthening our SRE and AI practices. This is a large investment in innovation to continue to drive operational excellence at our facilities.

If you want to help us accelerate the building of durable systems that operate in the physical world at scale, this is that opportunity.

The Role:

The Infrastructure Field Technician will be responsible for providing hands-on support for various IT initiated/supported projects across the United States. This is a physically active, field based role that includes installing cable, mounting network equipment, and working directly in warehouse, office, and outdoor environments. The technician will primarily perform on-site installation, maintenance, and assist in troubleshooting of IT systems, servers, and network equipment.

The position requires working closely with internal IT teams, contractors/vendors, and operations to ensure all systems are properly installed and operational in compliance with company standards. Success in this role requires a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to adapt quickly in the field.

This position requires extensive travel, with an estimated 95% annual travel to warehouse locations nationwide via both air and ground transportation.

What You Will Own:

  • Provide on-site support for warehouse infrastructure projects.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly installed, configured, and maintained to meet company standards.
  • Work with vendors and contractors to resolve hardware and software issues.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all work performed.
  • Provide regular updates to direct IT management on project progress.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.

What We’re Looking For:

The Ideal candidate will have or be able to complete the below qualifications.

  • Education:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Qualifications:
    • 2+ years of experience in IT support with a focus on wiring and installation of wireless networks and camera systems.
    • Familiarity and use of safety regulations and best practices when working at heights and operating a variety of industrial lifts (boom, scissor, etc.)
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Ability to travel 95% of the year within the U.S.
    • Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
    • Ability to work in a refrigerator and freezer warehouse environment.
    • Ability to work in confined spaces.
    • Ability to work outdoors.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving hardware issues.
  • Experience with low-voltage, data, and fiber optic cable terminations and splicing.
  • A+ or Network+ Certification.
  • Experience with access control systems.
  • Experience with wired and wireless network hardware.

Other Abilities You Will Need to Have: The requirements described below are representative of those required to perform the essential duties of this position. Reasonable accommodation may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential duties.

  • May require physical effort associated with using the computer to access information, or occasional standing, walking, lifting needed to carry out everyday activities.

  • Attention to detail.
  • Effective communication, vision, and hearing are essential for safety and productivity.
  • Operate scanners, tablets, radios, phones, computers, and other essential warehouse equipment as required.
  • Additional work hours may be requested by management to help manage employee production, projects, and/or special events.
  • Operate a registered motor vehicle if apart of daily tasks.
  • Engage in frequent personal interaction and communication.
  • Possess strong arithmetic and reading skills.
  • Follow verbal instructions, written instructions, and company policies.
  • Be a self-starter, able to work independently and coordinate with others.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing stress and meeting productivity guidelines.

Why This Role Is Different:

  • You are not maintaining a single site—you are building and standardizing infrastructure across an entire national network.
  • Your work has immediate operational impact—systems you install are used daily in high-throughput environments.
  • You’ll operate in real-world conditions with real constraints, not controlled lab environments.
  • You are part of a long-term modernization effort, not a one-time rollout.

This is for people who want to build tangible systems, not just configure them from afar.

Compensation & Structure:

  • Location and Department: Camden, NJ (Travel-Dependent) / IT
  • Reports To: IT Field Projects Supervisor
