Job Description

Vault Cloud is the national leader of providing highly secure and scalable sovereign cloud capability to the Australian Government, National Intelligence Community and Critical Infrastructure sector. We pioneered the development of Australia’s only sovereign, hyperscale cloud with security at its core, being one of the first cloud organisations to be Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) certified and we continue to drive innovation, delivering First of a Kind capability across the sector.

As we continue to lead in technological advancements, Vault is now entering a defining phase of growth with a strategic $22.5 million investment from the National Reconstruction Fund Corporation (NRFC). This investment will scale Vault's SECRET Cloud and introduce new services such as the AUKUS cloud capability, directly addressing Australia's strategic national security demands. Vault is now positioned to not only strengthen its existing relationships with federal and state government agencies, but also strengthen its relationships with private sector businesses requiring secure cloud storage. To support this growth, we are bolstering our capability by adding numerous key roles that are integral to our future success. This is an opportunity to join us at the forefront of a once-in-a-generation technological advancement whilst at the same time securing the nation against ever-increasing threats.

We are looking for a high-caliber Infrastructure Engineer to join our IaaS Squad. In this 100% remote role based in Vietnam, you will be a key engineer in building secure, resilient, and high-performing infrastructure. You will manage some of Australia’s most sensitive mission-critical data using a cutting-edge stack centered on OpenStack and Ceph.

You will be responsible for:

  • Platform Craftsmanship: Build reliable, user-friendly platforms by integrating third-party, open-source, and bespoke software to solve complex infrastructure challenges.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Partner directly with global product teams to design robust cloud services that set new benchmarks for security and innovation.
  • Operational Excellence: Apply modern DevOps practices and tools to optimize our delivery frameworks, ensuring our national cloud capability is both efficient and scalable.

To be successful you will be able to demonstrate with:

  • 5–7 years of hands-on experience deploying and upgrading OpenStack projects and Ceph storage at scale.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Advanced mastery of automation and configuration tools—specifically Ansible, Terraform, Chef, or Puppet.
  • Modern Orchestration: Practical, real-world experience with Kubernetes to support a microservices-oriented infrastructure.
  • Agile Mindset: The flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth "scale-up" environment where security is a top priority.
  • Professional English fluency is a must. You can navigate complex business transactions and articulate technical strategy clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A passion for technology and security
  • Flexibility to enjoy and thrive within a fast-paced, agile, and expanding scale-up environment

What’s in it for you?

  • Up to 10% of time dedicated to learning & development
  • 5 days of bonus leave per year
  • Company paid parental leave
  • Access to an online Wellness Centre
  • Be at the forefront of cyberwarfare, the greatest technology challenge of our generation
  • A diverse culture where we celebrate our people and their unique, individual perspectives

Our culture is a big part of who we are so, for us, it is vital that each of our people (known as Vaulter’s) align to and are continuously guided by our core values.

You will collaborate to provide secure and professional cloud services to a broad range of users. Join us now and become part of the future of secure cloud services and provide a significant contribution to our nation's success.
