As an Infrastructure Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Infrastructure Platforms team, you utilize strong knowledge of software, applications, and technical processes within the infrastructure engineering discipline. Apply your technical knowledge and problem-solving methodologies across multiple applications of moderate scope.

Job responsibilities
  • Understand the firm’s database infrastructure environment and technology modernization roadmap.
  • Partner with application teams to plan and execute database migrations.
  • Migrate workloads to the latest database products and versions on private cloud or public cloud platforms.
  • Provide post-migration expertise to maximize application workload performance and resiliency.
  • Monitor database performance to ensure stable, efficient operations.
  • Optimize capacity and scalability to meet current and future demand.
  • Identify and deliver automation solutions to run performance/capacity requirements more efficiently.
  • Collaborate with developers to refine database schemas, optimize queries, and improve application performance.
  • Support 24/7 availability and reliability for mission-critical systems through proactive analysis, enhancements, and after-hours/weekend release deployments, maintenance windows, and upgrades as needed.
  • Uses enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to accelerate monitoring and capacity analysis and documentation, validating outputs and handling operational data according to sensitivity and security requirements.
  • Applies reuse-first, AI-assisted approaches to identify recurring capacity risks and improve remediation workflows, ensuring changes are validated and aligned to resiliency and security expectations.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on infrastructure disciplines concepts and 3+ years applied experience
  • Strong knowledge of one or more infrastructure disciplines such as hardware, networking terminology, databases, storage engineering, deployment practices, integration, automation, scaling, resilience, and performance assessments
  • Strong knowledge on enterprise database technologies, including both SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Demonstrates relevant experience working with services on multi-cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI) and/or Private Cloud.
  • Is accountable in providing automation and optimization solutions across an enterprise technology infrastructure organization.
  • Demonstrates relevant experience in a Tier 1 financial services organization or similar industry.
  • Experience collaborating with application development teams to provide guidance on the best use of database services and infrastructure.
  • Experience working alongside DevOps engineering teams.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and familiarity with database resiliency patterns (performance, capacity, reliability, backup/restore, HA/DR, patching and upgrades).
  • Demonstrated experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to support infrastructure engineering workflows with strong validation habits and awareness of data sensitivity.
  • Ability to review and validate AI-assisted recommendations before implementation, escalating when uncertain and ensuring outcomes align to resiliency, security, and auditability expectations.
