Job Description
MTSI is seeking candidates for a test engineer/project engineer with experience in flight test, project management, and infrared systems. This position will be tasked to lead and support a team of engineers and analysts responsible for onboarding a new measurement system, as well as planning and executing tests in the IR spectrum, analyzing data, and reporting results. Additional duties include managing vendor contracts and providing status reports, feedback, and recommendations to the customer.
Duty locations vary, but work will be based in Las Vegas, NV. Position is for a Mid-level to Senior-Level Engineer.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• Project Engineering: Lead the near-term onboarding of a new measurement system, to include stand-up and integration with test facilities, development of the internal training program, and establishment of test campaigns supporting outside agencies.
• Test Engineering: Provide long-term leadership and support to test teams and customers developing Infrared Systems test and data analysis plans.
• Mission Planning: Provide system knowledge for mission planning of aircraft test profiles that optimize open air range test results, with a focus on infrared.
• Work well in a team environment, as well as independently.
• Position requires willingness to accept changing and evolving roles & responsibilities in support of customers’ requirements and needs.
Required Experience:
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience
• The incumbent must understand concepts, principles, and practices of flight test and project management.
• Experience in flight testing of avionics systems and sensor testing with a clear understanding of flight test principles and discipline.
• The candidate must maintain excellent communications and analytical skills, working knowledge of computer systems, software, and other engineering and management tools.
Desired Skills/Credentials:
• Previous experience with flight or space test, or as aircrew member (Pilot, EWO, Nav, etc.)
• Previous experience with infrared systems as well as with the ground and flight test of infrared systems.
• Experience with project management tools, MATLAB or Python, modeling software, and data analysis tools.
• Aptitude to learn new software tools.
Education:
• Required: Bachelor of Science (engineering, math, computer science, or physics)
• Desired: Master’s degree (engineering, math, computer science, or physics)
Security Clearance:
• Active Top Secret clearance with sensitive compartmentalized information (SCI) and special access program (SAP) eligibility
U.S. Citizenship is required.
