Blykalla is a Swedish deep-tech company at the forefront of the nuclear industry, pioneering the development of small modular reactors that provide clean, safe, and reliable energy. Thanks to lead-cooling, we achieve high safety in a very compact format, allowing for a simple and cost-effective design that can be mass-produced. Our unique reactor design will provide safe and green baseload energy that perfectly complements solar and wind power.
You support in defining and continuously improving the standards, tools, and governance framework for engineering information management across Engineering. As the framework matures, you take ownership of its operational execution ensuring that documents, tags, equipment data, review cycles, and work packages are structured, traceable, and connected to the way the plant is designed, built, and commissioned. You implement and maintain standards for tools, metadata, templates, and workflows and make sure the organization works through system-driven and automated processes rather than manual movement of files between folders. You turn information and document management into an enabling delivery function by automating RFI, design review, supplier review, and issue management workflows, and by integrating documents and work processes into BIM and the three-dimensional model. You help build a digital thread that supports design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and long-term operations.
The Information & Workflow Specialist sits in the Plant EngineeringTeam within Blykalla, and reports to the Manager of Plant Engineering. We are a diverse team that is passionate about our work and Blykalla.
10+ years of experience in document controls or engineering information management, ideally from heavy industry, oil and gas, manufacturing, or power generation.
Strong command of document structures, metadata, review workflows, work packaging, model integration, and automation — and ability to drive consistent adoption across teams.
Able to anticipate issues impacting schedule, data quality, handover readiness, or cost — and act before they become critical.
Balances governance, automation, and practical delivery.
Acts as a role model and builds trust across functions by being transparent, dependable, and solution-oriented.
Experience coaching users and raising document controls capability across an engineering organisation.
Background in contributing to tool strategy, resource planning, and ways of working across engineering.
Nuclear or other highly regulated industry experience.
You are responsible for contributing to Blykalla’s engineering capability by incorporating the areas below into your daily work:
Information standards and work packaging
Execute and coordinate the document controls scope for a plant area, project, or cross-functional work package.
Contribute to defining and then implement document, equipment, tag, naming, revision, and metadata standards and make sure templates support consistent use.
Apply and maintain holistic work package structures that link documents, model views, tags, equipment data, review states, and downstream handover needs.
Workflow design and automation
Implement and maintain workflows for RFIs, design reviews, supplier reviews, comment resolution, approvals, issue handling, and handover.
Configure and operate platforms such as Aras, so routing, permissions, status handling, notifications, and reporting happen through the system rather than shared folders.
Deploy and maintain templates, forms, dashboards, and automation rules that reduce manual touchpoints and improve traceability.
Review workflow performance, identify bottlenecks or data quality issues early, and make sure information is fit for use and fit for issue.
Systems and model integration
Support integration implementation of documents, work processes, equipment data, and tag data with BIM and the three-dimensional model so engineering information can be found in context.
Support model-based reviews and make sure governed documents, tags, and equipment references are linked to the right model objects and plant areas.
Coordinate with discipline leads, BIM, and configuration stakeholders to maintain and strengthen the digital thread across plant and product disciplines.
Suppliers and external partners
Prepare requirements for suppliers and external partners covering document standards, metadata, review cycles, handover rules, and system usage.
Review supplier and contractor information flows and make sure vendor documents, comments, and responses follow the required workflows and standards.
Represent document controls in meetings with partners, software vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders when document control process are needed.
Project delivery and operational support
Escalate issues with broken workflows, missing metadata, inconsistent tags or equipment references, and incomplete work packages early and propose practical mitigation actions.
Provide timely support to design reviews, comment resolution, RFI workflows, issue management, release for issue, and turnover readiness for construction and commissioning.
Team development and ways of working
Mentor users, train teams, and improve methods, templates, checklists, standard reports, and adoption of good document controls practice.
Help build a document controls function that can scale with Blykalla’s project needs through automation, standardization, BIM integration, and repeatable digital work packages.
Typical deliverables
Document control plans, tool configurations, metadata and numbering standards, template libraries, workflow maps, design review and RFI workflows, dashboards, supplier onboarding guidance, work package definitions, BIM and model linking rules, information handover requirements, and improvement roadmaps.
Workflow cycle time for design reviews, RFIs, comment closure, and issue resolution.
Quality of metadata, templates, work package setup, and first-pass review readiness.
Share of documents, tags, equipment records, and work packages with complete, correct, and traceable metadata and model links.
Reduction in manual touchpoints and turnaround time through automation and system-driven workflows.
Predictability of information release, supplier review closure, and handover readiness for construction and commissioning.
Contributions to team capability through training, coaching, and adoption of document controls standards, automation, and tool improvement.

Blykalla is on a mission to change the energy future of the world, by providing green, safe, baseload energy through next generation small modular lead-cooled reactors.
Blykalla is a Swedish deep-tech company founded in 2013 by Janne Wallenius, Peter Szakalos and Jesper Ejenstam as a spin-off from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, where Janne Wallenius carried out research on design and safety analysis on lead-cooled reactor systems since 1996.
We develop and build lead-cooled small modular reactors (SMRs) to deliver safe, scalable and carbon-free baseload power supply. Thanks to lead-cooling, we achieve high safety in a very compact format, allowing for a simple and cost effective design that can be mass produced. Our unique reactor design will provide safe and green baseload energy that is a perfect complement to solar and wind power.
