Renison invites applications for the full-time, ongoing position of Information Technology Specialist (35 hours per week; grade 13, salary range: $48,633.60 - $60,792.00).

Objectives: Reporting to the Manager, Information Systems & Technology, the Information Technology Specialist is responsible for the provision and support of information technology and related computing systems at Renison University College. These responsibilities include management of computing environments and supporting infrastructure enabling and improving outcomes for administrative, teaching, and student computing in the College. Additionally, the incumbent will represent Renison in a manner consistent with the values, goals, and strategic directions of the University College.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in an information technologies related field
  • IT support experience (5+ years), ideally within a university setting
  • Customer Service – end user experience (5+ years)
  • Desktop Management experience (3+ years)
  • Server Management experience (2+ years)
  • Network cabling and A/V installation experience (1+ years)

Skills:

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an emphasis on the ability to provide training and “workarounds” to common technical problems in a way that end users can understand and embrace (i.e., communicate technical solutions using non-technical, easy-to-understand language)
  • Professional, diplomatic, with ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Highly detail oriented, with an aptitude for accuracy
  • Effective organizational skills, with the ability to work with multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently with minimal supervision and exercise good judgment and decision-making
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Intermediate knowledge and experience with Microsoft Windows administration
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365
  • Knowledge of University of Waterloo technical systems is a strong asset
  • Knowledge of network cabling practices
