Summary
The Manager, Information Technology plays a critical role in developing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's IT strategy, ensuring that technology effectively supports NOHN's overarching mission and goals. This position requires a strategic thinker who champions cross-departmental collaboration, acts as a leader for the organization's technology initiatives, maintains a secure and highly functioning infrastructure, and actively mentors their team.
Core Responsibilities
Maintaining the IT Environment & Day-to-Day Operations
- Operational Oversight: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the IT department, ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of all IT services.
- Infrastructure Management: Manage and support optimization of the organization's IT infrastructure, including network security, server infrastructure, and end-user support.
- Cybersecurity & Compliance: Lead the development and implementation of robust cybersecurity measures to protect sensitive data and maintain patient privacy. Ensure strict compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices, including HIPAA, HITECH, and PCI.
- Business Continuity: Oversee all IT disaster recovery planning and business continuity initiatives to ensure organizational resilience.
- Resource Management: Develop and manage the IT department's budget to ensure cost-effective resource allocation and oversee IT procurement processes.
- Vendor Vetting & Expert Liaison: Vet and liaise with external technical experts, IT vendors, and service providers. Play a key role in managing these crucial relationships by acting as the subject matter expert and main point of contact to ensure optimal service delivery for the organization.
Supporting the Growth and Development of the IT Team
- Mentorship: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing IT team.
- Skill Enhancement: Provide ongoing opportunities for professional development and training to continuously elevate the team's technical knowledge and skills.
- Culture Building: Foster a positive department culture rooted in collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Acting as the IT Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Organizational Projects
- Strategic Guidance: Provide guidance on technology adoption and integration to enhance patient care, operational efficiency, and overall business growth.
- Trend Evaluation: Stay abreast of healthcare IT trends and emerging technologies, continuously evaluating their potential impact and application within NOHN.
- Technical Translation: Utilize strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills to effectively convey complex technical information to diverse audiences across the organization during project implementations.
Collaborating Across the Organization to Support the Mission
- Strategic Alignment: Develop and implement a comprehensive IT strategy that directly aligns with and supports NOHN's overall strategic plan.
- Policy Development: Develop and maintain IT policies, procedures, and standards that work for all departments while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Relationship Building: Act as a strategic thinker who fosters a culture of innovation and collaboration between IT and the rest of the organization.
QualificationsRequirements/Experience
Education &
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or Health Informatics preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of IT experience, including 3+ years in a healthcare setting and 3+ years in a supervisory or management capacity.
Preference given to candidates with the following certifications:
- Healthcare IT security (e.g., HCISPP)
- General IT security (CISSP, CISM, or Security+), and/or
- Project management (PMP)
Knowledge:
- Demonstrated expertise in HIPAA/HITECH compliance, IT budget management, infrastructure optimization, and vendor oversight.
Physical requirements:

- Some standing, sitting, bending, occasional lifting (up to 40 lbs.).
- Use hands and fingers to continually manipulate a keyboard.
- Work on a PC for up to 8 hours.

- Must be able to communicate effectively with providers, patients, and coworkers.
- Ability to respond effectively and appropriately to sensitive/confidential inquiries and/or complaints.
