About Marquette IT:

Marquette has implemented a hybrid internal and outsourced IT solution which leverages the best of a small personal, internal IT team with the flexibility, resources and wider breadth of skillsets provided by IT specialty vendors. We currently support multiple networks, over 1,000 IT CIs/devices, 250 direct users and 1,200 indirect users. We directly work with over 85 software/IT service products and vendors. Being part of the Marquette IT team involves blending traditional IT problem-solving with unique fieldwork, requiring adaptability, resourcefulness, and comfort with hands-on environments.

Marquette’s 2027 IT internship is a hands-on, cross-functional opportunity to gain insight and experience in every level of support, implementation, and service delivery provided by the IT department in both a traditional office environment and out in the field on-board working river towboats.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Provide hands-on technical support to office and vessel-based employees by diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues using a ticketing system and remote monitoring and management (RMM) tools.
• Install, configure, and maintain IT equipment including computers, monitors, printers, networking equipment, communication devices, and other technology used throughout the company.
• Travel to and work aboard river towboats to assist with the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of onboard IT, networking, and communications equipment.
• Configure and support next-generation networking and communications devices onboard vessels.
• Work alongside IT team members on active projects and initiatives, gaining exposure to infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, end-user support, and technology operations within a large, enterprise environment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Currently seeking an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related field.
• Interest in field IT work and ability to adapt to non-traditional work settings such as towboats and dockside facilities.
• A positive, customer-focused mindset and a passion for hands-on learning.
• Must have a valid Driver’s license and excellent driving record.
• Previous experience in hands-on or physical work environments.
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to collaborate in a team environment.
• Competency with computers, operating systems, and common software.
• Willingness and ability to travel to and board vessels.

This is a paid summer internship opportunity located onsite in Paducah, KY with internship dates ranging from mid-May 2027 to early August 2027 (can be flexible on dates).
