The division also develops and manages a variety of enterprise IT services. ISD consists of the following program areas: Application Infrastructure & Operations Solutions; Customer Service Center; Data Center Co-Location; Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity; Enterprise Cloud Smart Solutions; Enterprise Mainframe Computing and Database Services; Enterprise Servers; Enterprise Storage; and Unified Network Services.

Job Description

What you'll do:Under direct guidance and supervision, works to-ward acquiring the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform entry-level duties within an as-signed information technology program area team:Serves as an apprentice to designated staff learning core information technology competenciesAttend training courses relevant to assigned information technology program areaAssists assigned information technology program area team with daily tasks such as: Database server and activity monitoring, database maintenance and patching, complete customer requests, etc.Learns IT Change Management policies and proceduresAssists documenting database inventory, process flows and proceduresBuilds foundational knowledge of database management concepts and strategiesLeverages appropriate resources to build problem solving skillsLearns foundational concepts of SQL and scriptingPerforms other related duties as needed including:Representing the agency and assigned program area to internal and external customersScheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and taking meeting notesProviding project support for database services projects

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:1 course or 2 months experience in Information Systems/Information Technology, or a related field including but not limited to: Software Engineering/Development, Data Analytics/Business Intelligence, Database Administration, Network, IT Security and Help Desk/Customer Support

Must provide own transportation or in order to operate a state vehicle, you must have a valid driver’s license.Selection devices such as a structured interview, proficiency instrument, and/or assessment may be required for this position. Applicants must demonstrate proficiency with a passing score of applicable selection device to be considered for this position. Regardless of a passing or failing score, all results will be maintained for 6 months. Applicant with a passing score will be retained and utilized for a 6-month period. Applicant with a failing score in the same position may not re-take the same selection device for a 6-month period.The Ohio Department of Administrative Services does not provide employment-based visa sponsorship.Location Requirements:

DAS’s core hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., however, daily start/end times may vary based on operational need across DAS divisions. Employees may begin as early as 7 a.m. and as late as 9 a.m., based on supervisory approval. This position performs work on-site daily at DAS’s office space.Pay Information:

Unless required by legislation or union contract, the starting salary is step 1 of the salary range associated with this position. New hires advance to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Based on collective bargaining and legislative activity, there may be cost of living increases awarded annually. Additional longevity supplements begin after 5 years.
