Create your best future and join as an Information Security Consultant (Cyber Detection Engineering)
What’s the role?
As an Information Security Consultant, you will help strengthen Westpac’s cyber threat detection and response capabilities by designing, building and maintaining detection content across SIEM, EDR/XDR and related security platforms. You will develop and tune detection rules, behavioural analytics and anomaly-based monitoring, using threat intelligence and frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK to improve visibility of emerging cyber threats and attack techniques.
Additionally, you'll design and implement security automation solutions, response workflows, integrations and playbooks that streamline investigation, containment and remediation activities. Working closely with Security Operations, Cyber Threat Intelligence, Incident Response and Red Teams, you'll leverage automation, orchestration and AI tools to continuously improve detection coverage, operational efficiency and Westpac's overall cyber resilience to evolving threats and attacks
You will provide technical leadership, maintain documentation, share knowledge and mentor junior team members while ensuring security solutions are reliable, scalable and aligned with established engineering, development and governance practices.
