Job Description

Information Modeler – Finance Data Services

Role Purpose

Accountable for designing, evolving, and governing information and data models across the finance data landscape. The role ensures that all initiatives align with the enterprise canonical data model, data standards, and long‑term architectural direction, with a strong focus on data warehouse and transactional modeling.

Key Responsibilities Information & Data Modeling

  • Design, maintain, and evolve logical and physical data models for data domains, including data warehouse and transactional environments.
  • Ensure alignment with the enterprise canonical data model across all initiatives and changes.
  • Assess the impact of new data sources, projects, and domain requirements on existing models.
  • Translate business concepts into clear, consistent, and reusable data structures.

Architecture & Standards Alignment

  • Partner closely with Enterprise Architecture to ensure compliance with target‑state architecture and modeling standards.
  • Apply and promote data modeling standards, naming conventions, and design principles.
  • Review and challenge designs that introduce unnecessary complexity, duplication, or long‑term risk.

Cross‑Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Data Governance to support ownership, quality, and policy requirements.
  • Coordinate with Data Security to ensure confidentiality, classification, and access principles are incorporated into data models.
  • Engage with domain and delivery teams to understand business needs and help shape robust information structures.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for information model–related topics across business and IT.

Change Impact & Guidance

  • Analyze and clearly articulate the impact of proposed changes on the canonical data model.
  • Recommend appropriate model reuse, extension, or evolution approaches.
  • Identify and communicate risks, dependencies, and long‑term implications of modeling decisions.

Expected Profile & Experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in data warehouse/lake and transactional data modeling within complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise data architecture and canonical data models.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across architecture, governance, security, and delivery stakeholders.
  • Comfortable operating in change‑intensive environments with multiple parallel initiatives.
  • Able to communicate data modeling concepts clearly to both technical and business audiences.

Ways of Working

  • Operates as a shared enterprise capability, supporting multiple initiatives.
  • Prioritizes long‑term coherence and sustainability over short‑term project optimization.
  • Proactively raises risks, supports escalation where needed, and contributes to pragmatic, value‑oriented solutions.
