Under general direction of the Director of Nursing, the Infection Preventionist I promotes and maintains an active infection control program through surveillance and investigative activities, consultation, education, policy development and research throughout Woodridge Rehabilitation and Nursing.
The Infection Preventionist I is responsible to work to identify, control and prevent healthcare associated infection at Woodridge Rehabilitation and Nursing. The individual functions as a liaison between Infection Prevention and leadership and units to supporting key strategic priorities.
The individual conducts surveillance for healthcare associated infections; collecting, analyzing and reporting data. The individual identifies and reports communicable diseases, monitors compliance with infection Prevention practices, initiates and supports improvement activities and assists with review and revision of evidence-based policies and procedures. When required the individual assists with special studies or investigations in potential epidemic, outbreak or exposure situations. The individual is responsible for education of all levels of personnel, patients and visitors.
EDUCATION:
Minimum requirement: Associate's degree or higher in nursing.
RN licensure in the State of Vermont.
EXPERIENCE:
Three to five years of progressively responsible healthcare experience, including clinical or instructional experience in infection control preferred.
