The Infection Preventionist for Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, NH, is responsible for the day-to-day implementation of the Infection Prevention functions of WDH, one of the site teams of MGB Infection Control. The Infection Preventionist, reporting to the Sr. Manager of Infection Control at MGB/WDH, must have knowledge and experience in infection prevention and control principles and practice, the ability to make evidence-based decisions, excellent problem-solving skills, and excellent written and oral communication skills.
MGB is in an active change management environment and the Infection Preventionist will need to demonstrate flexibility and open mindedness as the contours of this position will actively evolve over time.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision and in collaboration with the MGB Manager of Infection Control, theInfection Preventionist
Implement at the site-level, system infection prevention and control goals, plans,policies,and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, regulatory/legal requirements andobjectivesof the organization
ImplementsiteNHSN and non-NHSN surveillance, remediation, and reporting of infections, including outbreak detection and response
ConductregularEnvironment of Care rounds and report findings to appropriate localand systemleadership.
Support continuous improvement of infection prevention and controlpractices
Function as a site liaison to regulatory agencies and public health authorities.
Evaluate the site-specific infection control program byidentifyingstrategies that address the risk of infection transmission.
Overseeand conductsite-specific educational efforts related to infection prevention and control
Implement, in collaboration with MGB Occupational Health Services,policies and procedures to assess, mitigate, and respond to occupational infection risk.
Collaborate with other site-specific stakeholders (e.g., Environmental Health and Safety, Compliance,Facilities, Real Estate,etc) asappropriate
Act as NHSN site administrator when assigned by MGB Manager/Director of Infection Control.
Participate in IPCC Working Groups and other activities as assigned.

Qualifications
Bachelor’sdegreerequired Master’s degree in Infection Control, Public Health, Epidemiology, or Statistics preferred;Masters in Healthcare Managementor another relevant field is acceptable.
Certification in Infection Control(CIC)preferred upon hire; if not CIC at hire, must be prepared to sit for CIC within 2 years of hire.
CurrentMassachusettslicensure as a registered nursepreferredbut notrequired

Knowledge and experience in
regulatory and other requirements related to Infection Prevention and Control
