Reporting to the Provincial Manager, Patient and Staff Safety, the Patient and Staff Safety Consultant (Safety Consultant) is accountable for, and is the Agency’s subject matter expert in, the application of safety principles to protect, promote and maintain the health and safety of Agency employees and the patients/clients the organization services, as well as for coordinating the administrative function of the Agency’s overall Patient and Staff Safety Program. The Patient and Staff Safety Program encompasses four key programs: occupational health and safety (OH&S), emergency preparedness and management (EP), infection prevention and control (IPC), and employee health and wellness.
The Safety Consultant is the agent of the Agency in directing compliance with all relevant legislative requirements, accreditation and other applicable standards. The Safety Consultant contributes to the physical and mental well-being and the productive work performance of all staff members through the development, administration and evaluation of a comprehensive Safety Program throughout the Agency.
The Safety Consultant will provide leadership and direction in safety practices by assisting Agency managers and staff, committee members and departments/divisions in developing health and safety, emergency preparedness, and infection prevention and control processes, structures and activities that meet their specific requirements and comply with applicable legislation. The goal of these activities is to control risk, preserve Agency resources and promote safe environments for staff work and patient care.
