
Infection Prevention Analyst - Full Time
Shift: 8:00am - 4:30pm
PATIENT POPULATION:
The patient population served can be all patients, including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public.
Under the direction of the department leader, the Analyst acquires, manages, analyzes, interprets, and transforms data into accurate, consistent and timely information in conjunction with federal and state regulations.
Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a Bachelor's degree or be able to obtain a Bachelor's degree within 18 months of hire. Two (2) years of minimum experience preferred in a healthcare position. Requires significant capacity to manage multiple competing objectives, and to communicate complex technical information in understandable terms to management and other personnel. Specific knowledge of NHSN reporting is required. Prefer knowledge in the use of ICD-10, CPT, Procedural, and DRG codes for running reports. Knowledge of medical terminology, including medical professional designations and terms used in various hospital areas required. Strong Organization skills required.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence if required. Effective oral and written communications are integral to the position.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages if required. Background or experience with statistics preferred.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to work with frequent interruptions and to maintain accuracy of information.
To perform this job successfully, requires individual to be computer literate or knowledge of Microsoft Office. Ability to organize graphs and charts for reporting data.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
*Indicates Essential Function
1 * Responsible for collection, surveillance, chart abstraction, tracking, maintaining, verification and uploading of data for various agencies and programs such as, but is not limited to, NHSN, NDNQI, CalREDIE, CDPH, and Tulare County. Acting as a resource to staff pertaining to such agencies and programs.
2 * Stays up to date on Joint Commission, CDPH, CMS and CDC requirements for Infection Prevention. Collects and tracks daily information on patients, managing daily reports and logs to meet Infection Prevention requirements relaying information to the appropriate parties. Documentation reflects compliance with established Hospital policies and procedures.
3 * Maintains dashboards for multiple committee’s and councils. Assists in retrieval of records and data as requested. Types reports and correspondence related to the activities of the department as needed with accuracy.
4 * Prepares standardized trending reports related to HAIs. Reviews and monitors all information/data prior to distribution to ensure accuracy and completeness. Assists with generating and formatting various kinds of reports, as requested. Reports are factual, accurate, complete and timely.
5 * Performs special projects as asked, related to infection prevention. Reviews and prioritizes incoming project requests/workload to assure completion in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner. Works independently.
6 * Provides support to the Manager around regulatory and accreditation readiness. When requested, establishes and maintains standardized formats for documents maintained for survey reviews. Assists with survey planning, preparation, and interacts with surveyors, as requested.
7 * Reviews microbiology reports daily to identify infectious processes and distributes/reports to appropriate individuals. Follows up to ensure proper Infection Prevention measures are in place on the units while patient is in-house.
8 Reviews daily HAI reports generated from the E.H.R. to review for documentation standards and work with unit leaders to identify risk areas for the organization.
9 Stays current on NHSN reporting requirements and ensures that the facility is current and compliant.
10 Attends departmental meetings and provides the team with updated information related to HAC trends and current data analysis.
11 Monitors CDC Media Briefs, WHO, and APIC websites weekly to stay up-to-date on Infection Prevention changes and updates.
12 Assists with the real-time monitoring of CORE measures.
13 Provide non-clinical backup support for EHS, including data collecting and reporting only. This position does not involve clinical responsibilities.
