Central Louisiana State Hospital located in Pineville, Louisiana is seeking applicants for a vacant position in our Quality Management Department as a Registered Nurse-Program Coordinator (Infection Control Nurse) who coordinates facility wide programs which will include, but not limited to: Infection Control, Discharge Planning, Quality Assurance, DRG Coordinator, Utilization Review, and Support Service Review.

The Registered Nurse-Program Coordinator (Infection Control Nurse) plays a vital role for the Louisiana Department of Health in the Behavioral Health community by utilizing CLSH’s values and mission to deliver quality and effective care to our patients. The hospital is highly committed to cooperative work with other state agencies and with the state and regional mental health program to insure the integration and coordination of hospital-community services into a comprehensive system of mental health care.

This professional position is located in the Quality Management Department and is responsible for the oversight of the Infection Prevention and Control Program at CLSH. The incumbent must exhibit tolerance, courtesy, patience, and professionalism and adhere to confidentiality when speaking and interacting with patients, visitors, vendors, contract staff, CLSH/LDH staff, and any external partners at all times. The incumbent must utilize their work time effectively to ensure that essential tasks are completed and deadlines are met as required.

Examples of duties

Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse plus one of the following:

Three years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR

A bachelor's degree in nursing plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR

A master's degree in nursing or public health plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR

A doctorate in nursing or public health plus one year of experience as a licensed registered nurse.

Job Duties:

  • Acts as the Infection Prevention and Control Committee chairman and plans, implements, and conducts activities of the
    Infection Prevention and Control Program at CLSH.
  • Provides the Infection Prevention and Control Committee and CLSH Administration with information about specific problem
    areas. Acts as a liaison between the Infection Prevention and Control Committee and all other hospital departments, as well as
    regulatory agencies, such as Public Health, CMS, TJC, and CDC.
  • Conducts surveillance for Healthcare Associated Infections (HAis), Infections Present upon Admission (POAs), monitoring
    for epidemiologic significance and implementing preventative strategies and sound control measures supported by standards
    and guidelines.
  • Reviews guidelines necessary for compliance with CDC, AHA, WHO, OSHA, CMS, and TJC recommendations and revised
    standards necessary for infection prevention and control program activities. Serves as consultant, when needed, situations that
    may compromise the health and safety of clients or staff.
  • Establishes and maintains a record of all client infections and determines the prevalence of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAis)
    on a monthly basis. Ascertains the efficiency of sterilization and disinfection procedures used throughout the hospital.
  • Conducts employment and annual tuberculosis screening and vaccination program for all CLSH employees, LIPs, and
    contracted staff.

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: Probation, Promotion, Demotion or Transfer.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 4:30pm

Compensation: Registered Nurse-Program Coordinator has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $3,129.60 bi-weekly.

In addition to the SER rate of pay/hour, this position receives
- Premium Pay of $10.00/hour worked
