Minimum Qualifications:
• Baccalaureate Degree in a Health Related Field (Nursing, Microbiology, Public Health, Medical Technologist).
• Incumbent(s) within position that are a Registered Nurse must maintain their current licensure as a RN in the State of New Jersey required.
• Certification Board in Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology (CBIC) required.
• Minimum four years of experience in acute care, public health, or other patient-related clinical experience with two years’ experience in epidemiology and infection control required.
• Incumbents must be able to demonstrate an understanding of basic microbiology.
• Computer proficiency within Microsoft Windows applications required.
• Demonstrates a strong understanding of spreadsheet analysis/applications required.
• Good organizational, written, verbal, and communication skills are essential.
The Infection Preventionist II is responsible for the identification, investigation, reporting, prevention, and control of health care associated infections (HAI) and of the day-to-day infection prevention activities for any designated healthcare facility, clinic and healthcare service throughout the continuum of care for AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center to which they are assigned in accordance with accepted standards and regulatory requirements of the infection prevention program. The qualified candidate must possess flexibility to be on call to cover emergencies and critical test results for communicable diseases.
The Infection Preventionist II is also a steward of the infection prevention program at AtlantiCare, teaching and mentoring all professionals and departments within AtlantiCare related to infection prevention. The IP II is a change agent and advocate for best practice and leads or facilitates key initiatives. Incumbents of this position align their career development and goals with APIC’s Infection Preventionist competency model and mentor teammates accordingly. The Infection Preventionist II will meet the practice standards set forth by the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology (APIC) and will be responsible for these characteristics along with the competencies outlined in the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
• CIC certified and is considered a highly proficient / expert
• Coordinates project and program leadership
• Completes Surveillance process design
• Completes External reporting and data validation
• Conducts New initiative launch and facilitation
• Mentors Infection Preventionist I’s
• Completes Internal consultation with leaders where Infection Prevention input is crucial for high level, inter-departmental operations or new project launch
QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE: Minimum four years of experience in acute care, public health, or other patient-related clinical experience with two years’ experience in epidemiology and infection control required. Incumbents must be able to demonstrate an understanding of basic microbiology. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire. Computer proficiency within Microsoft Windows applications required Demonstrates a strong understanding of spreadsheet analysis/applications required. Good organizational, written, verbal and communication skills are essential.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Demonstrates the clinical competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Requires the ability to walk, stand, and reach a majority of the time. Intact vision and speech, as well as sufficient hearing also required. May require occasional lifting 20 lbs.
