Job Description

Infant Teacher – Early Head Start

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:15 AM – 3:45 PM
Pay: $22.08/hour – up to $35.70 /hour (based on experience, education, and certification)

This role is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment where infants can grow and thrive. The Teacher designs and delivers individualized, developmentally appropriate curriculum informed by child observations, assessment data, and family input. Through responsive caregiving and strong partnerships, the Teacher supports positive outcomes for children and families while ensuring consistent supervision and full compliance with all program policies and federal, state, and local standards.

What You’ll Do

  • Create a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment

  • Plan and implement individualized curriculum based on observations, assessments, and family input

  • Use the Pyramid Model to support social-emotional development

  • Conduct developmental screenings, track progress, and support early intervention referrals as needed

  • Partner with families through daily communication, conferences, and home visits

  • Collaborate with co-teachers, specialists, and Family Support staff

  • Ensure active supervision and maintain a clean, organized classroom

  • Use positive discipline strategies to guide behavior

  • Maintain accurate documentation (attendance, assessments, incidents, meal counts)

  • Participate in trainings, coaching, and ongoing professional development

What We’re Looking For

  • EEC Teacher Certification (required)

  • CDA or equivalent with infant/toddler focus (required for Early Head Start)

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education or related field (preferred)

  • At least 2 years of experience working with diverse children and families

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Bilingual (Spanish, Haitian Creole, or Cape Verdean Creole) a plus

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and actively engage with children throughout the day

  • Work indoors and outdoors as needed
