Job Description

Position Title

Infant Nutrition Technician- NICUBell Hospital

Career Interest:

The Infant Nutrition Technician functions as an integral member of the Neonatal ICU team by preparing, labeling, and storing expressed breast milk and formula, and other infant nutrition-related duties. Prepares infant feeds using aseptic technique while being nutritionally precise. Helps to maintain the Milk Preparation Room equipment and supplies related to providing nutrition to infants. Maintains an environment which consistently meets all safety, infection control and quality standards. Works under the direction of a RN and Nurse Manager. Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

  • Performs duties in the Milk Prep Room, such as storage, preparation, packaging, and delivering of expressed breast milk and formulas for individual patients.
  • Ensures that the Milk Prep Room work environment is clean and tidy, and without clutter.
  • Reviews orders for infant nutrition and clarifies with staff as necessary.
  • Calculates ordered feed volumes and additives for infant feeds accurately.
  • Helps with education for home-caregivers on infant nutrition preparation, prior to patient discharge.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Graduate
  • Must pass a written math calculation test


Preferred Education and Experience

  • Associates Degree Working towards an Associate Degree or greater in nutrition or related field


Required Licensure and Certification

  • Basic Life Support Heartsaver (BLS HS) (Non-Clinical) - American Heart Association (AHA)


Knowledge Requirements

  • Candidate should be a team player who likes to work on a computer, has a good work ethic and excellent communication skills.
