
This role is suited for engineers who enjoy working at the intersection of software and industrial equipment. The Industrial Software Engineer will support the development, integration, testing, and sustainment of software systems that power NOV's Service Equipment product portfolio. Responsibilities include application development, industrial communications, equipment integration, diagnostics, cloud-connected solutions, and software support across both new product development and existing equipment in the field.
The engineer will work closely with mechanical, electrical, controls, and software engineers to develop reliable, maintainable, and scalable software solutions for industrial applications. Candidates should enjoy solving complex technical problems, learning new technologies, and working across multiple engineering disciplines. As experience grows, the role will progress toward technical ownership of software features, subsystems, and product initiatives.
Develop, test, and maintain software solutions supporting NOV Service Equipment products and related digital platforms.
Design and implement software features for industrial applications, including equipment control, data acquisition, diagnostics, and system integration.
Integrate software with PLCs, HMIs, industrial networks, databases, and cloud-based services.
Support the development and maintenance of web-based applications, APIs, and backend services used across the Service Equipment product portfolio.
Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, controls, and manufacturing engineers throughout the product development lifecycle.
Support product validation and field deployment activities through remote diagnostics, software updates, log analysis, and collaboration with engineering and field service personnel.
Contribute to the development of reusable software frameworks, engineering tools, and common technology platforms.
Produce and maintain technical documentation, software documentation, and engineering change records.
Take ownership of assigned technical work, proactively driving issues through resolution while communicating progress, risks, and recommendations to the engineering team.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
5-10 years of relevant experience in Industrial Automation, Control Systems, PLC Programming, Industrial Software Development, or a related engineering field.
Demonstrated experience developing software using compiled programming languages.
Experience working with software systems that integrate with industrial equipment, hardware, networks, or distributed systems.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical problems.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote engineering environment.
United State travel Visa preferred
