About the Project

The Linewide Alliance, comprising John Holland, Alstom, RATP Dev, KBR and WSP, are excited to be delivering the transformative Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East Linewide package.

When SRL opens, the new rail services for passengers will also be delivered by, a venture between RATP Dev and John Holland to operate and maintain the franchise for 15 years from 2035, to be known as TransitLinx.

The Alliance will deliver a world-class, service-proven driverless metro system that sets new benchmarks for comfort, safety, and reliability for Melbourne.

SRL is a transport and urban planning project that will deliver world-class public transport, reduce travel times, and support the delivery of more homes and housing.

About the Role;

SRL East is committed to industrial relations governance. The team will operate with integrity and be focused on innovative, long-term, commercially focussed solutions for the project.

The Industrial Relations Manager will develop and implement IR strategies across the Project, develop the IR capability of the Project Managers, and ensure governance and compliance.

All our employees have a key role in ensuring the success of SRL East’s health, safety, environmental & quality management program.

What you will do;

  • Be personally involved in successfully managing the industrial risk on the project.
  • Coach and build capacity of leaders on the Project to manage effective IR.
  • Ensure the relevant project persons understand and meet their regulatory and legal obligations as they relate to IR.
  • Provide practical training to Project personnel on how to manage obligations.
  • Proactively develop and promote best practice across the Project.
  • Maintain professional awareness and understanding of industry trends, case law, legislative changes and identify own development needs.
  • Point of escalation for complex, sensitive or high-risk IR issues.
  • Lead complex, critical and/ or high-risk industrial relations initiatives and projects.
  • Provide advice in relation to and resolving industrial relations issues.
  • Negotiating and drafting industrial instruments in consultation with Senior IR Managers and the Alliance Leaders.
  • Providing advice in relation to and resolving industrial relations issues.
  • Partnering with senior management and Project leaders to provide expert advice and Industrial Relations solutions to address issues that may arise on site.
  • Undertake complex investigations as required, including gathering evidence, preparing investigation reports and making recommendations to the decision maker.
  • Lead EBA negotiations (where required) for the Project.
  • Build Projects overall IR capability through the provision of strategic and tactical specialist knowledge, expertise and guidance.
  • Provide strategic IR support across the Project.
  • Provide onsite support in the management of IR issues as required.

What we are looking for;

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree and relevant experience in Law, Business, Industrial Relations, Human Resources or Employee Relations.
  • Certificate II, III, or IV in Business Administration
  • Post graduate qualifications e.g. graduate certificate, graduate diploma in Commerce, Accounting, Business, Construction, Property, Quantity Surveying, Law or other associated disciplines.

Experience

  • Relevant major projects experience in industrial relations, employment relations or workplace relations, ideally in the Construction industry.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Victorian IR environment and key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience dealing with Employee Relations or Industrial Relations in a unionised environment within the construction. industry.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills – you can explain complex issues in clear, practical, people-centred language.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, with strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Skill in the implementation of compliance and governance processes and practices.
