Position: Industrial Maintenance Technician

Job Type: Full-Time

Location: Northwest Indiana

Job Summary

Pleasant View Dairy is seeking a skilled and dependable Industrial Maintenance Technician to join our team. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production equipment throughout our dairy processing and bottling facility.

The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical and electrical background, be comfortable diagnosing equipment failures, and be able to work independently to keep production running efficiently. Experience with industrial automation, PLCs, and control systems is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical issues on industrial production equipment.
  • Work with electrical systems, including motors, motor starters, contactors, relays, sensors, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Repair and maintain gearboxes, bearings, drive systems, pumps, and other mechanical components.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain conveyor systems, including motors, belts, chains, sprockets, and associated controls.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and determine the root cause of breakdowns.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Troubleshoot and repair automated bottling, filling, packaging, and processing equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
  • Use electrical testing equipment, including multimeters, to diagnose electrical problems.
  • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and modifications.
  • Work with production personnel to identify equipment issues and improve reliability.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment while following company safety procedures.

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

The following experience is beneficial but not required:

  • PLC troubleshooting, programming, or industrial controls experience.
  • Familiarity with Allen-Bradley or similar automation systems.
  • Experience with VFD programming and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic systems, solenoid valves, sensors, and automated equipment.
  • Experience with HMI interfaces and control panels.
  • Welding, fabrication, or sanitary stainless steel piping experience.
  • Previous experience in dairy, food processing, beverage production, or packaging facilities.
  • Familiarity with pumps, pasteurization equipment, CIP systems, and refrigeration systems.

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work around production equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in wet production environments and around operating machinery.
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime or respond to urgent maintenance needs when required.
  • Ability to follow electrical safety, lockout/tagout, and food safety procedures.

Experience with PLC programming and automated controls is highly valued but is not a requirement for consideration.
