Fortera is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve the equipment and systems that support its newly constructed, computer-controlled pilot plant in Redding, California. This position is primarily responsible for keeping plant equipment safe, reliable, properly adjusted, and available for production.
The Industrial Maintenance Technician will perform routine inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance, equipment adjustments, lubrication, troubleshooting, and repairs for conveyors, pumps, fans, compressors, motors, material-handling systems, and other industrial process equipment. The technician must be able to safely disassemble, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, reassemble, and return equipment to service while ensuring proper operation and reliability. Responsibilities also include documenting completed work, identifying spare-parts needs, and supporting the procurement of maintenance materials and services.
Because this is a pilot facility, equipment and operating processes will continue to evolve. The technician will work closely with operations, engineering, contractors, and equipment suppliers to install, commission, modify, troubleshoot, and improve plant systems. The technician will also help develop maintenance procedures, lubrication schedules, inspection standards, equipment histories, and preventive maintenance programs.
Hands-on industrial mechanical maintenance experience is strongly preferred. Electrical, instrumentation, controls, welding, fabrication, millwright, construction, and equipment installation skills are desirable. Experience in cement, lime, aggregate, crushing, material handling, mining, manufacturing, or similar industrial operations is preferred.
In addition to maintenance responsibilities, the Industrial Maintenance Technician may provide operational support as needed to support the production schedule. This may include monitoring computer-controlled equipment, performing inspections, following Standard Operating Procedures, responding to changing process conditions, and coordinating with other team members to maintain safe and efficient production.
The ideal candidate approaches troubleshooting methodically, works safely with limited supervision, and takes ownership of equipment condition and housekeeping. The individual must be dependable, adaptable, willing to share knowledge, receptive to constructive feedback, and committed to a positive and productive team environment.
The facility may operate 24 hours per day. This position must be available to work rotating 10-hour or 12-hour shifts that may include days, nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and emergency callouts. Work schedules may change based on production requirements and business needs.
As Fortera expands and develops additional facilities, opportunities may arise for Industrial Maintenance Technicians to support equipment installation, commissioning, maintenance, training, and start-up activities at future locations. These assignments may require increased travel.
A willingness to relocate permanently from Redding to a future Fortera operating location is preferred but not required. A candidate's willingness and ability to travel and relocate may be considered in hiring decisions.
This position reports directly to the Senior Plant Engineer.
