Job Description
A leading food manufacturing organization in Las Cruces, NM is seeking a skilled and dependable Industrial Maintenance Technician to support plant operations through the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of production equipment and facility systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Analyze equipment performance, machine error messages, and operational data to diagnose equipment malfunctions.
- Troubleshoot, install, repair, and maintain industrial production and processing equipment.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, valves, sensors, photo eyes, switches, heat exchangers, and level control devices.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and components, including automated controls, VFDs, HMIs, servo controls, and related equipment.
- Inspect, disassemble, repair, rebuild, and reassemble machinery and equipment.
- Operate testing equipment, including voltmeters and diagnostic tools, to identify and resolve equipment issues.
- Perform preventative maintenance activities and complete scheduled work orders.
- Support industrial refrigeration, boiler, utility, and facility systems.
- Cut, weld, fabricate, and modify metal components for equipment repairs and installations.
- Program and enter operational instructions into computer-controlled equipment as required.
- Respond to maintenance requests and production needs in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and preventative maintenance documentation.
- Enter maintenance activities and equipment data into SAP or other maintenance management systems.
- Follow all safety procedures, food safety standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and housekeeping requirements.
- Work collaboratively with production personnel and fellow maintenance team members to ensure operational success.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with industrial ammonia refrigeration systems, high-pressure boilers, and utility equipment preferred.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills combined with mechanical maintenance experience.
- Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, technical manuals, and equipment documentation.
- Experience working with automated controls, computerized equipment, and production systems.
- Ability to utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), ERP platforms, or SAP.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
- Ability to work any shift, including weekends, holidays, overtime, and 12-hour schedules as needed.
- Ability to frequently stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, and work in varying positions throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds independently and greater weights with assistance.
- Comfortable working in cold, wet, humid, and manufacturing environments.
- Ability to work around moving mechanical equipment, electrical systems, chemicals, and industrial machinery.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment, including hearing protection, eye protection, and other safety equipment.
