You will work closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, environment, and safety teams to identify risks, implement practical solutions, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Health and Safety, Biology or other related sciences
  • Registered with the Canadian Registration Board of Occupational Hygienists (ROH) or American Board of Industrial Hygienists (CIH)
  • 5 years of experience as an industrial hygienist in a refinery, petrochemical or other industrial setting
  • Thorough knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, occupational health principles, hazard assessments. product safety, chemical management, community response (e.g. noise/odors, etc.)
  • Experience conducting hazard assessments, field IH sampling, and developing control programs

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive industrial hygiene assessments to identify and evaluate workplace hazards (chemical, physical, biological, ergonomic)
  • Interpret and apply Industrial Hygeiene processes (including respiratory protection, hearing protection, radiation safety, etc.) and validate organizational compliance
  • Provide technical support to site Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) peers with evaluation of health hazards, recommend mitigations, and validate effectiveness of controls
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant occupational health and safety regulations and standards
  • Prepare detailed technical reports documenting findings, recommendations, and corrective actions
  • Investigate incidents and health-related complaints, recommending appropriate actions

Location and other Key details:

  • You will work out of our Edmonton refinery in Sherwood Park, located at 801 Petroleum Way
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs, including being on-call as appropriate and potentially working night shifts as necessary during large scale outages, turnarounds, and/or emergencies
  • You will be required to use ladders and work on elevated work sites such as scaffolds and towers with the ability to perform in a variety of different environments both indoor and outdoor as well as within confined spaces
  • Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
