Job Description

GFL Industrial Services is seeking experienced and adaptable High Pressure Cleaning Operators to join our Edmonton team. This role is suited for individuals with hands-on high-pressure water blasting experience in industrial environments who are mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and capable of working in dynamic field conditions. Successful candidates will have direct experience operating high-pressure systems ranging from 10,000 to 40,000 PSI, including Jetstream, NLB, and Hammelmann pumps, and be capable of rigging in, operating, and supporting a variety of specialized cleaning tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate and assist in the setup and rig-in of high-pressure water blasting equipment (10K–40K PSI).

  • Operate Jetstream, NLB, and Hammelmann pump units in industrial environments.

  • Set up and assist with automated and manual cleaning tools, including StoneAge and other HP tooling systems.

  • Perform mechanical troubleshooting and basic field repairs on pumps, guns, hoses, foot valves, and associated tooling.

  • Assist with site preparation, equipment setup, demobilization, cleaning, and debris removal.

  • Work at heights and in confined spaces across various industrial facilities (refineries, upgraders, chemical plants, pulp mills, SAGD, gas plants).

  • Perform confined space entry and detailed industrial cleaning tasks.

  • Support vacuum operations including swamping duties, rigging vac hoses, and assisting with standpipes and unloading.

  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs), and site safety requirements.

  • Complete and submit digital work reports as required.

  • Lead small crews during shutdown work when qualified; foreman opportunities available for experienced operators.

  • Other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Class 5 Drivers License with a fairly clean Commercial Drivers Abstract is required; Class 3 or 1 drivers license would be an asset.

  • Proven experience operating high-pressure equipment between 10,000 and 40,000 PSI.

  • Direct experience running Jetstream, NLB, and Hammelmann pumps.

  • Ability to rig in and operate high-pressure cleaning tools safely and efficiently.

  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to repair and maintain high-pressure equipment and tooling.

  • Willingness to work after-hours, weekends, and on short notice callouts.

  • Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying weather conditions.

  • Availability for shutdowns up to 2 months in duration (6 days on / 1 day off schedule).

  • Industrial experience in refineries, pulp mills, gas plants, SAGD, or chemical facilities is preferred.

  • Previous foreman or shutdown leadership experience is considered an asset.

  • WJTA certification or equivalent high-pressure training would be considered an asset.

  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and standing for extended periods.
