As part of our Smart Manufacturing efforts, the Warehouse Automation Architect will define and deliver the architecture for increasingly autonomous warehouse ecosystems.
This role is responsible for designing, integrating, and scaling advanced warehouse automation technologies, including robotics, intelligent material handling systems, real-time orchestration platforms, and AI-driven optimization layers, to enable resilient, high-throughput, and data-centric logistics operations.
You will bridge physical automation, control systems, software platforms, and enterprise integration to create warehouses that continuously learn, adapt, and optimize.
Key Responsibilities
1. Architecture & Strategy
- Define the long-term automation architecture for TI’s warehouse and distribution operations
- Develop scalable system blueprints covering robotics, AS/RS, conveyors, sortation, vision systems, and sensor networks
- Establish integration frameworks between automation layers and enterprise platforms (WMS, WES, WCS, ERP, MES where applicable)
- Active participation and collaboration with IT to design & implement WMS enhancements
- Create reference architectures that align with TI’s broader Autonomous Factory roadmap
2. Robotics & Intelligent Systems
- Lead deployment of AMRs/AGVs, robotic picking systems, palletizing solutions, and automated storage systems
- Design fleet orchestration models and real-time control strategies
- Incorporate machine vision and AI-enabled decision-making where applicable
- Evaluate emerging robotics and automation vendors
3. Software Integration & Digital Infrastructure
- Architect API-based integrations between automation hardware, control systems, and enterprise software
- Define real-time data pipelines and telemetry standards
- Enable Industrial IoT connectivity and event-driven architectures
- Support development of digital twins for warehouse flow simulation and optimization
4. AI, Analytics & Optimization
- Integrate predictive maintenance frameworks
- Enable AI-driven task orchestration and intelligent routing
- Implement performance monitoring dashboards and KPI analytics
- Identify opportunities for adaptive optimization and autonomous decision-making
5. Deployment & Governance
- Oversee system implementation, testing, commissioning, and go-live support
- Establish automation standards, cybersecurity requirements, and documentation frameworks
- Ensure compliance with safety, industrial, and regulatory standards
- Define lifecycle management and upgrade strategies
6. Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with Supply Chain, IT, Operations, Facilities, and external integrators
- Mentor engineers and automation specialists
- Influence automation investment strategy and technology roadmap
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Robotics, Systems, Industrial, or Computer Engineering
- 8 years of experience in warehouse automation, robotics systems, or industrial automation architecture
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven experience integrating automation systems with WMS/WES/WCS and enterprise platforms
- Masters Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Robotics, Systems, Industrial, or Computer Engineering
- Technical understanding of industry leading warehouse management systems (SAP EWM or Manhattan Associates)
- Strong knowledge of robotics controls, PLCs, industrial networking, and automation software
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary technical deployments in operational environments
- Experience with autonomous mobile robot fleet management
- Machine vision and AI/ML applications in logistics
- Industrial IoT architecture and real-time analytics platforms
- Experience designing digital twins or simulation models (e.g., warehouse flow modeling)
- Semiconductor or high-tech manufacturing supply chain experience
