Job Description

We are seeking an Industrial Engineer & Continuous Improvement Leader to drive operational excellence at its Verson (ISL) manufacturing site.
This is a hands-on, shop-floor-focused role with a clear mission: optimize manufacturing processes, deploy Lean methodologies, and build a strong continuous improvement culture in a low-volume, high-mix electromechanical environment.
Industrial Engineer and CI Leader will be a key technical and cultural change agent for the site.

Main activities:

Manufacturing Process Analysis & Optimization

  • Conduct a systematic, data-driven review of all manufacturing processes across the site, from incoming inspection through assembly, calibration, functional testing, and final pack-out.
  • Identify waste, bottlenecks, quality escapes, inefficiencies, and excess cost using Lean principles and structured problem-solving tools.
  • Define and maintain baseline performance metrics (cycle time, first-pass yield, scrap, rework, OEE) and drive measurable, year-over-year improvement.
  • Translate root-cause analysis findings into sustainable process changes, not temporary fixes.

Lean Transformation & Continuous Improvement Leadership

  • Own and deploy the site’s Continuous Improvement (CI) roadmap, aligned with operational and financial objectives.
  • Plan, lead, and facilitate Lean initiatives including Kaizen events, Value Stream Mapping, 5S, SMED, TPM, Poka‑Yoke, and structured problem-solving (A3, 8D, PDCA).
  • Personally lead Kaizen activities on the shop floor, working directly with operators, technicians, and team leaders.
  • Build a continuous improvement culture by coaching and developing Lean capabilities across all levels of the organization.
  • Act as the site champion for PAC / Indicor operational excellence standards and best practices.

Shop Floor Layout, Flow & Workstation Design

  • Design, balance, and optimize assembly and test cells for a low-volume, high-mix electromechanical production environment.
  • Define takt times, line balancing principles, WIP policies, and material flow to maximize throughput and quality.
  • Lead layout changes and capacity projects, including reconfiguration to support new products, changing volumes, or new equipment.
  • Ensure workstations are ergonomic, safe, and efficient, supporting precision assembly and testing.
Standard Work, Time Studies & Labor Standards
  • Establish, document, and continuously improve standard work for all assembly, calibration, and test operations.
  • Perform time studies and work measurement to develop accurate labor standards.
  • Ensure standards support reliable costing, capacity planning, routing accuracy, and operator training.
  • Partner closely with Production to close variances between standards and actual performance.
New Product Introduction (NPI) & Industrialization
  • Serve as the manufacturing and industrialization lead for new product launches.
  • Participate in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews and influence product design, BOM structure, and test strategy.
  • Support pilot builds, ramp‑up, and stabilization phases to ensure robust, repeatable production processes.
  • Develop and implement required tooling, fixtures, assembly procedures, and test station configurations.
Cost Reduction & Productivity Improvement
  • Identify and execute a pipeline of cost-out and productivity improvement projects, including labor efficiency, material usage, scrap reduction, rework elimination, and make‑vs‑buy analysis.
  • Build robust business cases with clear baselines, quantified savings, and post‑implementation validation.
  • Partner with Finance to link operational improvements to margin performance and site P&L impact.
Performance Tracking & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Define, track, and report CI KPIs and progress to site leadership.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, R&D, and Finance to ensure alignment and sustained results.
  • Maintain a strong shop-floor presence, acting as a visible change leader and coach.

Required profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt minimum (Black Belt preferred)
  • At least 5 years’ experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Proven hands-on experience leading Kaizen events and Lean initiatives
  • Strong shop-floor presence; this is not a desk-based role
  • Experience in low-volume, high-mix and/or electromechanical assembly
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
  • Fluent French required for daily operations; professional English needed in an international environment

What we offer

  • A high-impact role with direct influence on site performance and P&L
  • A technically rich product portfolio serving critical industrial applications
  • Real ownership of the CI roadmap — not a maintenance role
  • Competitive compensation package, aligned with experience
  • Attractive location in Normandy, close to Caen and the coast
