An Industrial Engineer is responsible for optimizing production processes, improving efficiency, reducing waste, and ensuring high-quality output. The role focuses on balancing productivity, cost, safety, and quality in a complex manufacturing environment involving rubber processing, tire building, and curing operations.

Key responsabilities

Process Optimization

  • Analyze and improve manufacturing processes
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to increase throughput
  • Apply lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies

Production Efficiency & Productivity

  • Measure line performance (OEE – Overall Equipment Effectiveness)
  • Develop standard times and work methods
  • Balance production lines and optimize labor utilization
  • Reduce cycle time and downtime

Layout & Workflow Design

  • Design and improve plant layout to enhance workflow and minimize material handling
  • Support installation of new equipment or production lines
  • Use simulation tools to model production systems

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret production data
  • Develop KPIs and dashboards for plant performance
  • Use software tools (Excel, SAP, Power BI)

Continuous Improvement Projects

  • Lead Kaizen events and improvement workshops
  • Implement Lean tools such as: 5S, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), SMED (quick changeovers)
  • Track and sustain improvements

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with:
    • Production teams
    • Maintenance
    • Quality & Process engineers
  • Align improvement projects with plant goals

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field
  • 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing (tire, automotive, or similar industry preferred)
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt) is a plus

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (preferably rubber/tire production)
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement tools
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Project management capability (transversal projects)
  • Proficient english
