Industrial / Process Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Industrial / Process Engineer to join a growing manufacturing operation in the Middlebury, Indiana area. This position will focus on improving manufacturing processes, increasing efficiency, reducing costs, and supporting production through practical engineering solutions.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver who enjoys working directly with production teams and has a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, workflow, tooling, equipment, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and improve manufacturing processes, workflows, and production methods
• Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, safety, and cost
• Develop and implement process improvements and standard work
• Evaluate production layouts, material flow, labor requirements, and equipment utilization
• Work closely with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams to resolve manufacturing issues
• Develop and maintain work instructions, process documentation, and manufacturing standards
• Assist with new product introductions and the development of efficient manufacturing processes
• Analyze production data and key performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities
• Assist with equipment, tooling, fixture, and process development
• Conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions
• Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
• Evaluate manufacturing methods and recommend changes to improve efficiency and reduce waste
• Assist with capital equipment projects and implementation of new manufacturing technologies
• Provide hands-on technical support to the production floor
• Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, delivery, and cost

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred
• Manufacturing or process engineering experience
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production environments
• Experience with process improvement and problem-solving methodologies
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret manufacturing data
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively with operators, supervisors, engineers, and management
• Willingness to spend significant time on the manufacturing floor

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement
• Experience with CNC machining or metal manufacturing
• Experience with time studies, capacity analysis, and labor standards
• Experience with manufacturing layouts and material flow
• Experience with tooling, fixtures, and production equipment
• CAD experience
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems
• Six Sigma or Lean certification
• Experience supporting new product launches or process development
