Libbey’s Industrial Engineer works with Production and Value Stream Managers to perform technical duties related to the glass forming, selecting, packing, resort, repack and distribution center operations. Duties are typically linked to specific machines, processes, material flow or general operating techniques.

The individual will be required to learn our processes to become fully competent in the process analysis and design aspects of the role. Must be a hands-on individual, willing to work in all areas of the manufacturing plant and capable of solving problems, both on the floor and in design.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop and maintain industrial engineering work standards.
• Analyze data to remove abnormal values, calculate selected average time, modify with appropriate grading factors and determine standard time and proper allowances for various workflow situations.
• Observe and record production operations with objectives of eliminating unnecessary action, determining most desirable sequence of functions and accurately measure time required to perform the operation.
• Present results of observations and analysis to management, while explaining, defending and requesting approval of proposals.
• Assist in the introduction of standards and methods to workers for new processes, machinery or product flow by accurately creating methods and procedures that guarantee safety and efficiency.
• Conduct special investigations into efficiency and effectiveness of machine operations, material flow, area layouts, utilization of labor, while preparing data and reports for managerial review.
• Supply standards information to the accounting department based upon operational data and knowledge; answer questions on bonus plans to interpret procedures and application.
• Create, update and finalize item and SKU specific information into the bill & router accounting cost files.
• Design new and modify existing labels, based upon customer expectations and information.
• Investigate suggestions to determine value and cost reduction potential.

REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering is required
• Broad-based engineering knowledge and excellent computer skills including CAD (AutoCad, Solidworks), MS Office, Visio, and Project
• Experience with LEAN and Six-Sigma are desired
• Manufacturing, Process and Machining knowledge / experience is a plus
• Experience working on cross-functional projects, facilitating process improvements, and the ability to streamline/develop and roll-out new processes
• Strong verbal presentation and clear concise written communication skills appropriate for the audience
• Ability to work off shifts as required
• Ability to interact with and establish collaborative relationships at all levels
• Experience with using Design of Experiments (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and various Statistical Data Analysis tools
