Job Description

The Industrial Compliance Officer works with the Senior Specialist to create governance mechanics, including artifacts, cadence, and tracking processes, to ensure compliance execution is consistent and auditable. The role develops governance-specific artifacts such as RACI matrices, decision flows, standards, and templates, and assists with the implementation of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (NIST CSF) for the River Class Destroyer Program.

  • Develop, maintain, and monitor Program Security governance policies, procedures, roles, and oversight processes to ensure compliance with regulatory, contractual, and organizational requirements.
  • Coordinate program security activities, work plans, schedules, and priorities to support the effective execution of security initiatives and compliance obligations.
  • Engage and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure security objectives are met, risks are addressed, and communication remains effective across all parties.
  • Support the implementation, assessment, and continuous improvement of security controls aligned with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
  • Assist with cybersecurity risk assessments, compliance reviews, audits, and the tracking of corrective actions to address identified gaps.
  • Collect, analyze, and maintain security metrics, dashboards, and reports to measure program effectiveness and overall security posture.
  • Prepare security-related documentation, briefings, and management reports while promoting continuous improvement and security awareness throughout the organization.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a similar field required.
    • Cyber related certifications (Sec+ CompTia) or (Certified in Cybersecurity ISC2) considered an asset.
  • 0-2 years of experience, ideally looking for someone who is ready to learn and grow!
  • Experience with NIST CSF or other cybersecurity or risk management frameworks considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of the Contract Security Program; experience as a CSO/ACSO considered an asset.
  • Strong proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, with working knowledge of Microsoft Visio considered an asset; ability to effectively manage, analyze, and present information using business applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and support cybersecurity governance and compliance initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization, including project teams and senior leadership.

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
