About the role:

Peabody is seeking an Industrial Cleaner to join our Maintenance team at the North Antelope Rochelle Mine (NARM) in Wright, Wyoming. NARM is the largest surface coal mine in the world, producing high-quality thermal coal that is transported by haul truck and shipped by rail. The operation maintains approximately 465 million tons of coal reserves and plays a critical role in delivering reliable energy resources.

As a member of our leadership team, the General Foreman will play a key role in fostering a safe, productive, and collaborative work environment while supporting operational excellence across the Rolling Stock Shop

The Industrial Cleaner is responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and efficient work environments throughout mining and processing operations. This position performs industrial cleaning activities on draglines, electric shovels, drills, support equipment, conveyor systems, and coal processing facilities. The Industrial Cleaner supports maintenance and operations teams by removing accumulations of coal, dirt, grease, mud, and other debris to ensure equipment reliability, workplace safety, and operational efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inspect work area and plant for hazards, damage and defects

Earth Moving Equipment Cleaning:

  • Clean and maintain large earth-moving machinery, including undercarriages, tracks, engine bays, and operator cabs.
  • Use high-pressure water blasters, steam cleaners, and industrial vacuums to remove grease, oil, dirt, and debris from machinery.
  • Ensure that all equipment is free of contaminants that could interfere with operational performance or maintenance.
  • Inspect equipment for wear, damage, and leaks, reporting findings to the maintenance team.
  • Safely handle cleaning chemicals, solvents, and degreasers as per company standards

Coal Processing Plant:

  • Clean and maintain Motor Control Centers (MCC)
  • Remove debris using industrial vacuums, pressure washers, and compressed air systems.
  • Assist in plant shutdown cleaning during scheduled maintenance or outages, ensuring a safe environment for workers.
  • Monitor plant areas for cleanliness to reduce fire hazards and improve operational efficiency.
  • Ensure proper waste disposal and manage hazardous materials according to environmental and safety regulations.

General Duties:

  • Maintain cleanliness of all work areas, including storage and maintenance areas for cleaning equipment and chemicals.
  • Follow safety protocols, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, confined space entry, and working at heights as required.
  • Perform regular checks on cleaning equipment to ensure it is operating correctly.
  • Report any equipment faults, hazardous conditions, or safety concerns to the supervisor immediately.
  • Adhere to environmental regulations in the disposal of waste materials such as coal dust, grease, and chemical solvents.
  • Assist in any other general labor or maintenance tasks as required by supervisors.
  • Other duties as assigned by the company

Physical Requirements

SURFACE ENVIRONMENT

  • Must have the ability to stand for up to 4 hours per shift
  • Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles
  • Must have the ability to work from elevated positions, walk/climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on/off equipment and ladders
  • Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA
  • Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms/legs and good hand to eye coordination
  • Must have the ability to lift/raise 10 – 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance frequently during the work shift
  • Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light/dark, in and around artificial light, and in a confined work area
  • Must have the ability to work various shifts (required shifts include days, evening and nights, with rotating schedules, weekends and holidays)
