Summary

Summary Objective

The Individual Giving Coordinator is a fundraising professional who contributes to the strategic direction of Louisville Zoo by focusing on the solicitation of gifts from individuals, engagement of existing donors, cultivation of new donor relationships, and oversees donor database management. This position reports to the Development Manager.

This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through regular meetings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

  • Develops, implements, and manages individual giving strategies aligned with the organization’s annual and long-term fundraising goals.
  • Manages a defined portfolio of individual donors and prospects, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and retention activities.
  • Develops individualized donor engagement and solicitation plans and monitors progress toward established individual giving revenue goals.
  • Prepares customized donor proposals, solicitation materials, and case statements for individual gift opportunities.
  • Research donor trends and giving patterns and analyzes data to inform individual giving strategies and recommendations.
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for assigned donors and prospects and builds long-term philanthropic relationships.
  • Represents the organization at donor meetings, cultivation events, community functions, and public engagements as assigned.
  • Collaborates with development staff, volunteers, and board members to coordinate individual giving initiatives and donor engagement activities.
  • Tracks, monitors, acknowledges, and records individual contributions in fundraising databases and ensures accuracy and completeness of donor records.
  • Compiles, prepares, and interprets financial and fundraising reports related to individual giving performance.
  • Assists with development of individual giving budgets and monitors progress toward revenue targets.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and ethical standards related to fundraising and donor relations.
  • Performs related work as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, English, public relations, or related discipline.
  • Four (4) years of active solicitation experience, prospect management and donor research.

OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must provide one’s own source of transportation.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state’s driver's license with an acceptable driving history.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

  • Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis; or sustained keyboard operations.

Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.
