Indirect Tax Team Lead

We are looking for an Indirect Tax Team Lead to join our LATAM Finance organization and play a critical role in managing indirect tax compliance, advisory, controls, and process optimization across the region.

This position combines deep technical tax expertise with people leadership responsibilities. You will lead a team of tax professionals while partnering with Finance, Procurement, Sales, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with indirect tax regulations, mitigate risks, and drive operational excellence. The role offers broad regional exposure and the opportunity to influence tax processes and transformation initiatives within a dynamic multinational environment.

Main Responsibilities

Tax Compliance & Reporting

• Oversee the preparation, review, and submission of VAT, Sales Tax, GST, and other indirect tax filings across multiple LATAM jurisdictions.
• Ensure all tax returns are filed accurately and on time in accordance with local regulations.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and assess their impact on business operations.
• Support compliance reporting and tax-related reconciliations.

Team Leadership

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of indirect tax professionals.
• Allocate workload, review deliverables, and ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Support employee development through training, feedback, and performance management.

Business Partnering & Advisory

• Provide clear and practical indirect tax guidance to Finance, Procurement, Commercial, and other business teams.
• Support strategic initiatives, projects, and business transactions from a tax perspective.
• Identify tax risks and opportunities and recommend business-focused solutions.
• Translate complex tax concepts into actionable recommendations for non-tax stakeholders.

Process Improvement & Controls

• Drive the optimization and automation of indirect tax processes.
• Strengthen internal controls and ensure accuracy of tax data and reporting.
• Collaborate with Finance and IT teams on ERP enhancements and system implementations.
• Contribute to tax transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Audit & Risk Management

• Manage tax audits and communications with tax authorities.
• Ensure audit documentation and supporting records are complete and maintained.
• Assess indirect tax risks and implement mitigation plans.
• Support governance, compliance, and control activities across the region.

About You

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in indirect tax, VAT, GST, Sales Tax, or related tax functions.
• Strong accounting and indirect tax knowledge.
• Experience working with LATAM tax regulations, preferably in Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, and/or Argentina.
• Previous exposure to leadership, supervision, or team coordination responsibilities.
• Experience in multinational, shared services, or regional environments is a plus.

Technical Skills:

• Strong technical expertise in indirect taxation.
• Knowledge of VAT, GST, Sales Tax, and related compliance requirements.
• Experience with tax technologies and ERP systems, preferably SAP and/or Workday.
• Understanding of transfer pricing principles.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk assessment skills.
• High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

• Demonstrated leadership capabilities and team development skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate complex tax matters to diverse audiences.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Excellent collaboration and business partnering capabilities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural, and matrix environment.

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or a related field.
• Fluent English (written and spoken).
