Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Calgary office is actively hiring for an Indirect Tax Senior Advisor to join the team. This position reports to the Manager, Indirect Tax in the Indirect Tax department, part of Pembina’s Financial Services division.

The Tax Service team contributes to the development of long-term global growth strategies acting as proactive partners who are sought out for our expertise when making business decisions. By effectively identifying, assessing, communicating, and managing tax risks and opportunities, the Tax team is a trusted business partner creating and protecting shareholder value in a globally compliant tax framework.

The Indirect Tax Senior Advisor will be responsible for contributing to improvements to Pembina’s Indirect Tax processes and systems while maintaining current levels and acting as a trusted advisor to the business on all issues including sales taxes, use taxes, excise taxes and customs.

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with multiple business units to ensure proper oversight of PST (Canada), Sales and Use Taxes (USA) and Value Added Taxes (International);
  • Work within a team to complete the preparation of Indirect Tax and customs related filings in several jurisdictions within the US, Canada and internationally;
  • Work with the Manager to assist with a variety of Indirect Tax and customs related audits including GST, PST, US Sales and Use Taxes, Fuel Taxes and others as they arise;
  • Ability to quickly and independently manage a high volume of transactional data and independently meet a variety of deadlines in a short period of time;
  • Reconcile indirect tax accounts and maintain online tax accounts by ensuring company information is accurate, up to date, and in good standing with applicable authorities;

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Business, Commerce, or a related field;
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive indirect tax experience gained within a public accounting firm, industry environment, or a combination of both;
  • Experience with Indirect Tax master data setup and functionality in SAP along with strong Excel skills;
  • Good project management skills with a keen business sense and a focus on adding value to the organization;
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership, drive initiatives forward, and effectively navigate challenges to achieve business objectives; and
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement.
